Select the food in your inventory. Select "feed to [pet name]". Pet is fed.

Also, you might want to read some of the newbie guides. They'll explain all that stuff.

You can also have them automatically fed at the Lakeview Resort in Veta Lake. Don't worry if your pets goes a long time without eating the only effect on it is that it wont be able to battle.
