http://i43.tinypic.com/2cz20w4.jpg So ... Long story short, ( I know it looks like a murder scene but I swear it was one of our holiday christmas candles x.x ) It was in the wrong place at the wrong time, Dark red candle wax on light colored carpet and walls ... how does one get rid of this without replacing the carpet?

Try this solution

I'd definitely do what they did first which is pick off as much as you can with it dry, and vacuum it up. And then go for the iron. Since it's a dark red on light carpet, you might have to use some kind of stain remover for it afterwards.

WD-40 and a comb and a vacuum. Clean any stains left with COLD water and a good stain remover.

the iron is a great idea or if all else fails most carpet cleaning companies also handle stains/wax removal so that could be an idea. If it is just on the top surface of the carpet you could trim the fibers as long as you only take a bit off it shouldn't look any different. I am an apartment property manager so I've seen a good carpet company save some crazy damaged/stained carpet before so if you are not able to fix it yourself often it can be a minimal charge, like $50 or less, depending on the size of the area.
