But I have no clue how to go about doing so?

I'm also not very confident that I'd be able to do it for long, since I dislike working out in general (being forced to do gym in school has kind of robbed me of any joy I would ever get out of it) and I'm also not exactly the healthiest person in the world. I have multiple respiratory issues (at least I think I do, I know I at least have a bit of problematic second-hand smoke) and I'm not light either, the last time I weighed myself I was hovering around ~180-190 pounds and I'm sure that number has climbed since then. I also have a bad knee (bad joints in general tbh but my knee is the worst), which would probably put a damper on working out for long periods of time before it starts acting up.

I also don't have the money to actually take kickboxing lessons so that's wonderful too lmao

Are there any MMA gyms near where you live? Most of them will give you a 1 day pass where you can check out classes for free. My old gym did that and that's actually how I got into kickboxing. I would just go in and try it out and see if it's something you could see yourself committing to. I've also seen groupon deals for kickboxing classes, but I can't attest to the quality of those.

My personal experience:

It's quite honestly the best workout I've ever done. I was running 5 miles a day and I thought I was in pretty good shape, but my first class kicked my ass. I was so sore the next day I could barely even crawl out of bed. I quit for a while after my uni schedule got too hectic and my bad knee took a turn for the worse, but I'm back to near 100% (I better be, considering I've packed on 15lbs of muscle in the past year through physical therapy) and I've found a gym much closer to where I live, so I'm about to start up again. It's also a lot more interesting than trying to stick to a single workout routine.

I don't much know about any gyms in the area, but I can easily google it I suppose. Then it's just a matter of getting there :P

I can barely even run a mile -- I had to push myself to run a full 15 minutes for gym class, so I have a feeling I'll be hurting the for awhile if I ever do manage to find classes lol

Don't worry about not being at full fitness when you start kickboxing, there were people at all levels in my class. I was the only girl and about half the size as all the other guys, but they were all at varying levels of fitness. You'll be able to build up endurance pretty fast :) After a while you'll start to enjoy the burn/pain it gives haha, it always left me going back for more. I think it's because I correlate soreness to the workout actually being effective - there were times where I'd be in the gym slaving away with a personal trainer for 2-3 hours and feel absolutely nothing the next day and I would just be so discouraged afterwards.

Yeah, I just think I need to be in an environment that isn't as judging as a high school gym class to actually start enjoying working out :/ It's gotten to the point where walking a mile has my legs aching and leaves me out of breath so hopefully working out would get my body used to things that push my lungs and limbs to their horribly low limit.

Yeah, you definitely need to be outside of that kind of environment. Way too judgmental. High school was a miserable 4 years for me to the point I almost dropped out before my senior year started rather than have to face another year in that hellhole. Do you have the time to take walks or jog around the neighborhood? That could be a starting block of building up your endurance a little, plus it wouldn't be too far off from part of kickboxing classes. At least at my gym we start off with 15 minutes of cardio - jump rope, jumping jacks, jogging, etc., then 30 minutes of intensive kickboxing, and have 15 minutes of "cooling down" - stretches, crunches, leg lifts, planks, push ups.

Aye I was almost at that point too -- the only reason I ever graduated was because I switched to a much smaller, much more one-on-one oriented school.

I do have a bunch of time in my day to jog/walk around the neighborhood, but not in this weather. It's icy and snowy as hell and I'd be slipping and sliding around the neighborhood more than jogging :P

I almost switched schools just so I could immediately graduate lol. The one I went to was highly competitive and had much stricter graduation requirements than other schools here, but I also wanted to get into a decent university so I decided to stick it out for one last year.

ohhh yeah, I kind of forgot about the weather haha. I'm way down in Texas and it's warmed back up already.

Yeah I was gonna go to community college so school was more of a meh sort of thing to me. But then my financial aid didn't work out so I can't go to school unless I wanna pay for it myself -- something I can't do because I'm unemployed >__<

ffff lucky, I wish it was warmer here. Can't even walk a single block down the street without losing feeling in my nose :(

That sucks :( Hopefully something works out in the near future!

Yeah, I just went out for a drive and nearly melted. I was only wearing capris and a tshirt.

Yup, hopefully :/ Right now I just want it to get warmer so I can do what you suggested and go for jogs around the neighborhood lmao

Oh jeeze I wouldn't wanna do that right now here, the temperature has been hovering at low 30s for the past few weeks and I think it's even hit subzero temps at one point x____e;

The lowest it's been here was about 25F, now it's sprung back up into the 70s. Texas weather makes zero sense. It's always super random from day to day and a lot of times even within the day. It could be in the low 30s in the morning and 80 by noon, I still haven't figured out how to dress on days like those haha.

That's sort of the same here, except it only really does that in the spring/summer where the weather can't ever decide if it still wants to be winter or if it wants to actually warm up and correctly portray the season :P

It sounds like yoga might be better for you. I'm a bit heavier and have back and leg problems, and while kick boxing is really fun to do with online videos for 10-15 minutes or so, I don't think I could ever do the actual class without dying. Depending on where you live there are so many types of yoga offered, and I bet you could find a place you feel really comfortable.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
