I have been posting in the forums, but my post count remains at zero. Is there something I need to do that I didn't read about or find that has to do with this?

You've been posting in the Event forum, where the posts don't count towards your total.

Your post count won't go up in certain forums, like user run games, the events forums or the Gold Account games forum.

which forums have you been posting in? some of them don't count towards your post count (usually the user-run games, etc.)
