So I haven't read the whole book yet(actually I haven't even read Son of Neptune or Mark of Athena yet), but I did read that apparently one of the characters in Rick Riordan's Heroes of Olympus series admits to having a crush on another guy. This surprised me, since I can't think of any other books made for that age group that have had a character actually say they like someone of the same sex(it's suggested, maybe, but never actually made clear). I'm really happy that Riordan did this, and I hope it becomes a more common thing.
So, did anyone else read about this, or read the book itself? Thoughts?
Hi
And yesssssssss, that's true. One of them is gay, and you'll be surprised to find out who he is <3 won't tell you since I hope you'll get curious enough to read the whole book (it's a great book since the first chapter til the last one).
Answering your question, I found it quiet awesome, because it explains a lot of his behaviour towards the other guy and everything is more clear, at least for me.
Oh it's ok, I already know who it is. :P And yeah, it does explain his behavior and what not. I'm working on Son of Neptune now, but I'm not very far into it. I'm behind on a lot of things I've been wanting to read, haha.
I love that he did this I support gay marriage, but I hope he doesn't pair him up with Percy, Jason, or Leo.
. . .
I have read the book and I have to admit I was very happy when Nico (he's the gay one) admitted that he liked another guy. It really helps those of us in the world who are NOT straight that it's okay to not be okay and it helps to talk to people. I really love all the Rick Riordan books and if anyone ever gets into the other series' he wrote it does get more supporting.
