Woke up about an hour ago to see there's a gas leak in my basement; have to stay out of the house till they say I can come back in without dying from carbon dioxide. anyone been through this before?

close the doors and windows in the cellar so you don't get it upstairs and so it doesn't spread outside, then call(if you can) whatever service handles it.

Ping me if you want a reply.

Well I just got in about 4 hours ago and there was no hazardous chemicals or any thing in the house, luckily. Also thanks for the tip.

And just as another tip I wouldn't light a match, light a cigarette or turn on the stove burners for some time. Just because you know... gas in the air + fire = probably not a happy house. I'd call whatever services handle it asap if you haven't already ! They can tell you exactly what to do.
