Yay, another step forward! Makes me kinda sad that it's not called marriage, or that, yeah, all marriages would be "civil unions", but hey, it's better than nothing.

IDK if you guys are Australian or know Australia well, but it means the entire Eastern coast (Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania & Australian Capital Territory) is now pro-civil union. (5 out of 8 states & territories.) Western Australia, the Northern Territory and South Australia are still behind.

I still find it strange that Gillard is being coy about the matter seeing as she is not only female but a (dyed?) redhead. A lady in her position should be more aware of what discrimination entails. Especially since she's received flack since coming to power for being "unemotional" and other various things.
