I don't know if it is possible with the large variety of colors and species here, but. One thing I really like in another game I play is that once you unlock a color for the pet, you can change to that color at any time in the future. It makes things like seasonal colors much more fun to use, because you don't have to pay again to change them back.

It also would avoid problems like when a player accidentally uses something that changes their pet (like an experimental dew). Instead of then having to get a potion to transform their pet back to the species and a potion for the color (especially with CSC potions, that can be quite a big ask), they could just revert it. In the case of a user who did that yesterday, they sent in a ticket and I'm pretty confident it'll get fixed that way, but they were in full blown panic about it for a bit, and it got me thinking.

Hmm! I'm curious and I like the general idea behind this - sort of a "rollback" feature for accidental pet color changes. That would save folks so much heartache with accidental bottled water shenanigans, or accidentally potioning the wrong pet thanks to a misclick (done that, was not fun).

But I have to ask: how would the "unlocking" mechanic work, exactly?

For example: if you have a spectrum feli, and you turn it into a field dragarth, do you only have the field dragarth and spectrum demi unlocked for that pet? Or do you unlock the whole field & spectrum category for that pet?

Also would the unlocks be transferable via pet transfer/pounding the pet?

Good questions!

I think there's a lot of ways to work it. I suspect it would work best if only the color/species combo you've used are unlocked. Keepsthe value up for the potions/elixirs/whatever.

And hmmm. I think if the combos stayed on the pet, there'd be a risk of people selling pets, even though that's against the rules. Probably better to keep them tied to the account and pet specific. So like, you can't get a Spectrum Blob by borrowing someone else's and then giving it back, but if you turn your bumbus into a blob and paint it with a spectrum potion, that spectrum blob could go back to being a common bumbus or whatever. On the same thoughtline, you couldn't transfer your blob's spectrum to your Kanis if that Kanis wasn't also at one point painted Spectrum itself.
