The Liar's Glow inspired by videos on facebook

This stupid machine It must be broken I didn’t lie I wasn’t misspoken.

I’m hungry and cold Both worried and ill This device says I’m lying Against my will.

I’ve tried to remove it I’ve tried and tried The more I failed The more I cried.

I tried using Scissors To cut the band It is still attached Firmly to my hand.

Please listen While I explain I’m not lying I don’t complain.

I’m telling the truth This watch needs repair This is not fun This is not fair.

I curse myself For buying this junk All because I Wanted out of this funk

Self improvement was My goal, I tried to take All I get are looks and Being told my words are fake.

Being isolated in A world that doesn’t Believe, my words are true I can’t give up, I mustn’t.

It’s hard to be alone In a world so full I followed a trend Now I feel like a fool.

Do I amputate my arm? To be free for this machine On second thoughts That’s a bit extreme.

I’ll go back to the store Demand some respite To get relief Even if I have to fight.

I march through the door Straight into the crowd I demanded service I was being so loud.

I yelled at the staff “This thing is broken” Waving my arm Like it’s a token.

“It can’t be Luv, Look at the light, It says you’re lying, I’ve never seen it so bright”

“We know the truth” The crowd start chanting Seeing those green lights Is very disheartening.

“I know the truth, Believe me please” I just need someone To provide my ease.

“I believe you’ A child’s voice called Hidden in a corner Someone so small.

“It’s you’re heart rate, That affects the stupid thing Breathe in deep, It will release the spring”

As my heart rate dropped My anxiety fell I’m telling the truth, even This thing can tell

Red turned to green My brain relaxes Sneers turn to smiles As more time passes.

In the silence, a soft Click was heard The awful watch Got it’s reward

A small ‘Thud’ was heard As it hit the floor I turned and bolted Back out the door.

This is the last time I follow a trend It almost brought my Life to an end.

There is almost an outfit one could make inspired by this - the red glow brings to mind Glowsting items, and then of course there's green glow wearables, and then all we need (apart from a shirt and bottom, haha) is a big red-ish watch!

The piece itself evokes a fear, an anxiety that sits so deep. We're so dependent on machines. I know I am!
