Stuck restarting at same place midway through Polar Ice Fields

I've been noticing all day (last couple days? Idk what even is time anymore) that every time I get the alert to go play Ice Fields again, click it and start a game, I keep starting at this same point. The image shown is not, in my experience, ever the starting point for this game. And every time, I've gotten "lost" after the first choice at this point. I reset my alert and carry on. Next time I restart, here I am at this image again, only to get lost again immediately. I'm pretty sure something is wrong...

Also experiencing this. The text on the page when I go back to play says "You are unwilling to admit defeat and push forward through the glacial plain. Your extremities have started to go numb, which is almost nice in comparison to your face, which is burning from the cold. "
I choose a direction and get text about going the wrong way "The wind picks up violently, and you lose your bearings in the whiteout. When the snow finally settles, you recognize the glacial formations around you — you've been pushed back, but not all the way. Your earlier tracks are still faintly visible in the snow."
Then I set the alert and when it's time to play again it goes back to the first page and text shown above, not the real 'first page' of the game where you set out.
Hmm - I'll take a look at this! I upgraded the backend of this and Krypts to use a system that we could add to easily (and added a few new achievements to the ice fields) and tested, but didn't run into this issue.

Just confirming the same starting stage. I have gotten past it, but mostly it ends the next step already.
Okay I see what is going on! I set up a mechanism for making it so that you don't have to go back to the start if you make it past a certain checkpoint, and then.... didn't put anything about it on the page or explain it at all. every time your alert fired, you'd start at the glacial plain with the "unwilling to admit defeat" text, pick a direction, get lost, and end up right back there an hour later. each trip into the Ice Fields is now a fresh expedition from town: when your cooldown ends, you start from the tundra's edge, find cookies again, and get a real shot at the Bucket of Polar Water. If you were stuck at the glacial plain, you'll be unstuck automatically the next time you visit.
