I also had the dark grey box appear while I was trying to type this post (after the "create" button stopped circling and loaded). I did try clicking to create a new thread, and got the same error again.

....this happens intermittently. Today I closed and reopened Chrome (which incidentally this time then did an update), and this thread then was able to be posted, although I still cannot start fishing (it let me get as far as picking my fishing location before the dark grey box appeared). On other days when it hasn't worked, there was no Chrome update to do, and I still have been unable to fish. Other days, it let me fish with no problem!
