I've been here for 13 years now, and now we're switching to the KUMOS site, and it's annoying me. I can't find anything, I don't like the page layout, and all the fun is gone. I think it's unfair to make such a change without asking us players, and I'm not the only one who doesn't like it. But like all gaming sites, the developers don't care what the players say. As long as people spend their money and keep the game running, it doesn't matter what others say.

I hear you, and I understand the frustration. Change sucks, especially when you've spent 13 years building a home somewhere. I genuinely get that. But I want to push back on a few things here, because some of what you're saying just isn't accurate.

There are hundreds of threads where I've taken feedback and made changes to the site. Many of them in just the last two months. I've reworked the layout based on what folks have told me to make it feel more familiar. The changelog has hundreds of bug fixes. I'm in the shoutbox and the Discord every day helping people work through issues. So the idea that developers don't care what players say? That one stings, because it's not true, and I think if you look around the forums you'll see that.

What I can't do anything with is "I don't like Kumos." That's not feedback I can act on. If you tell me "I can't find the wardrobe" or "this page is confusing because X," I can fix that. I want to fix that. But "I don't like it" without specifics doesn't give me anywhere to go. Here's the thing that I need everyone to understand: this isn't a change I'm making because I want to. I would love nothing more than to let legacy Subeta run forever and ride off into the sunset. But that isn't an option. Legacy Subeta runs on technology that is, to put it bluntly, falling apart. The database version we're on hasn't had a real update in eight years. The migration to make it compatible with Kumos took months of backend work, and if I hadn't done it, the site would just stop working in a few years when that database hits actual end of life. We're talking about a 22-year-old codebase that was started by a 13-year-old. Think of it like driving a car that's been on the road for 22 years and was owned by a teenager for half of them. At some point, the thing just can't pass inspection anymore.

And it's not just a preference thing. We carry insurance. We have legal obligations around security. "Hey, sorry, we can't keep the site's security up to date anymore" is not something your insurance company wants to hear.

I also want to be honest about something: there aren't "developers." There's me. I have a full-time job outside of Subeta working for state governments trying to keep SNAP benefits from getting cut, which as you can probably imagine is taking up a lot of my energy right now. I'm 35 years old, I haven't been paid for my work on Subeta in over five years, and I keep doing it because I love this place and the people on it. I love that we've built a corner of the internet for people who are different, for people who want to be creative, for artists. That matters to me deeply.

So when I read a post like this that says I don't care? It's really hard. I'm doing everything I can to keep this place alive, and I'm asking you to meet me partway. Come to the feedback forums. Tell me what's broken, what's confusing, what you can't find. I will read it and I will work on it. If Kumos ends up being something you can't make work for you, I'm sincerely sorry about that, because it might mean the end of your time here, and I don't want that. But the alternative to Kumos isn't legacy Subeta forever. The alternative to Kumos is no Subeta at all. I hope you'll stick around and help us make it better.

-- almost 20 years here. Im perplexed about the changes to Kumos. They are not easier, user friendlier or streamlined. They take more steps to expedite and they take up more personal time to find your way around, to the point that frustration seeps in and then aggrevation. I am not, by any means discrediting your idea or all of the endless hard work and time you have sacrificed for the new changes. But, personally, I dont like it at all. Thank you for allowing me to vent without persecution. ❤

Gifting is nothing like the old gifting. No way to say thank you. Too many steps, doesnt meet all of your needs. I love this pet game. I wouldnt have stuck around this long, if I didnt. But its like going back to school and Im way too old for that. It runs so smoothly for me now. Not at all though, once Im forced to use Kumos. My anger gets the best of me because I spend too much time reading and trying to figure stuff out. Its confusing to peple who didnt put it together. <3 There are other specifics that I dont like but Im not in the frame of mind to spew them out at this time. I will work on a list. LOL <3

, is there any way you can make the lettering larger and easier to read for the older people?

This is the difficulty! If you look in threads here, a lot of people do find it more easier to use! It's just different from what you're used to!

I hear you on the gift center feedback - it got some improvements and new features, but those changes didn't come together with actual improvements. I'll get those in!

Otherwise, please make a list! There is nothing I can do to save the legacy site, and want to make the Kumos site feel like home, so really anything!

That's interesting, people complain that the text is too big, hahaha. If you press ctrl++ on your keyboard, it should make the text around the site larger!

Thank you for responding! I agree. It is very different than what I am used to. Back when you were 13, I wasnt so limited and could run around the site like a track star. LOL Today, not so much. Im like an old war veteran, LOL Been thru a lot.

I will give it my best to try and keep up because I love being here. I love the no pressure environment and the way your presence is always so positive. I cant promise that I wont increase my reaching out to admins for "a clarification or 100" on some things, but I will speak up for help as to not miss out on anything.

Thank you for understanding where I was coming from. Peace out.

It's different for all of us, I also can't be running around like that anymore ;)

Please feel free to ping me here in the forums, or leave a comment on profile if you need any help. I really, really want everyone to be able to move over, I know that it'll be really annoying in the short term but hope that I can make all of those lil improvements to make it feel like a new home 💖
