so I have a YouTube channel for product reviews (not the one in my sig) I've not uploaded on it in 5 years.. I recently accepted a offer to review a product that requires pics and possibly a video.. should I start fresh and create a new YouTube channel?

If I start over I lose 89 subscribers.. I had over a thousand views on some of my videos but not really any comments.. but maybe a fresh start is what I need? I've not filmed myself in 7 years.. my last few videos were all focused on the products.. this new review will be for a face product and I have to show myself using it.

I have a few socials linked to that account.. I also realized I did videos of products (showing them) but only reviewed them via who ever sent them. so there is no actual review on the channel or site..

Truthfully my channel name is similar to someone who has a copyright on their name.. The only difference mine has numbers in it.. I've always been a bit afraid of being confused with this other person or getting in legal trouble cause our user names are similar and they have copyright on theirs..

Im looking into cameras .. My old one I don't even remember how to work and the quality is bad.. Trying to save up for a new camera..

or should I just use a galaxy a23 phone to record? If I do this how do I get the phone to cast to my Chromebook so I can watch the Chromebook to see what the phone is recording?

~ why not use your old channel but give it a makeover? Change the name and banner and such, but keep the followers :)

well I'm not sure if I could change the YouTube username.. You don't think the old videos are too out of date?

~ honestly I like seeing the old videos. It gives you a sense of history and establishes your credibility. Especially right now with all of the weird AI influencer nonsense it's nice to see someone with an actual past and years of life. It feels genuine :)

If I can change the username I'm not sure what I would even change it to.. since the site and the insta all use the current username..

Update 1/25/26 Ok found out I can change the user name (if I understand what I read) Im currently going through the old videos and turning off the comments. I removed the Twitter link from the profile. trying to figure out if I need to mark my product reviews as paid promotion/sponsored/endorsed on YouTube its all one box.. I get products free to review but get 0 sale profits.
