So, who here likes nail polish? What's your favorite color? Finish? Least favorite? What are you wearing now? etc etc.

I like lighter colors and shimmers. Though I am easily amused by thermals. And magnetics are lovely, too, especially in darker colors. :D I think I see cremes as too simple now haha because of all the other types of finish.

I'm currently wearing a glittery magnetic which shifts between blue and gold/green on a navy jelly base (but it's hard to see the base, because of how packed the glitters are). I couldn't decide how to wear the magnetic, so it's an assortment of cat eye, velvet, failed glass bead. xD

Hello! I love nails :) Do you do your own? I have polygel stuff etc. I have so many colours that are not gel though. I'd like to make some type of art with the non gel.

My fave colours are colour shifting. I like pinks/blues/purples/dark greens (right now) I also love interesting designs. I love real flowers incorporated (spring is coming!) I also like French tips but they go way down the sides in interesting colours. Not the traditional nudes/white. Hmmm I am also digging the groovy 60s vibe trend!

I can go on and on 😁🩷

Edited for spelling xD

Yes, I do my own (no gel, also don't want to get a gel allergy and I'd suck with gel orz). c:

Do you do your own nail art? I'm not good at art, let alone nail art, I dabbed on some different colors using a sponge once and they came out nice enough, but that's the extent of my nail art haha.

Not a fan of French tips, the really fake looking ones. The interesting color ones sound nice though!

I have heard about gel allergy developing! I have never had a problem... I have done some fun designs. Unfortunately it takes me hours and hours. I am an absolute perfectionist when it comes to any type of art. Which is one of my favorite things to do (art) it always scrap projects or give them away to anyone who asks me. With the feeling it sucks and I could have made it better. If no one sees.my art I don't get imposter syndrome lol So no gel... you like holo taco? I think it's called. Really pretty brand but I am trying to stick to gels. Also have you ever watched design videos? I watch the compilations on youtube muted, with my own music on. Very relaxing haha

Hours sounds way too much commitment for me haha. I can get my mani done in less than 30 minutes. Yeah, I imagine knowing when to stop and how to stop when making art is really difficult. I'd have issues as I was a perfectionist (less now, had to let go as much as I could, or else my mental health).

I'm not a huge fan of holo taco. I live in Europe, so it limits my access to American boutique and indie brands. I recently splurged on Canadian indie Clionadh. :D They're very pretty. <3

No, I watch swatch videos though. c:

I am trying to buy Canadian at all costs. Or Europe, Mexico, Australia etc. I checked out their products. Sooo pretty! I rarely wear makeup but now I want some eyeshadow lol

Yes it takes sooo long to do designs by myself. So I tend to do one colour. Why I like gel. If I touch anything I mess up my polish otherwise. I think maybe I make too thick of coats. When I try and do less it just doesn't seem to work hehe

It is all about colour for me. Why I love fabrics and yarn, nail polish, makeup, even decor. Perhaps Why I love Subeta too :D

Ah, I see your subeta profile says you're in Canada! Well then, that's perfect then! They do really nice sales, so worthwhile checking them out then if you've not tried them. n_n I got the pick your potion palette and I always get compliments when wearing the shades. Their Psilocybin magnetic nail polish in particular has been a hit as it is very color shifty. I don't have that one (I opted for a few crellies and other magnetics and had to be selective to avoid additional import tax).

Yeah, I had issues with polish smearing when I did thick coats or applying quick drying top coat too soon (as it would dry faster than the layers below it, ultimately causing unsightly shrinkage). I say stick to what you like doing and if that's gel then that's great. :D Whatever works for you!

Haha, nice. I take it you wouldn't have been a big fan of Pantone's color of the year for 2026 then with its off-white white. xD

yeah, and before it was brown? I mean... those are accent shades, to an actual colour (to me) 🤣 But hey to each their own. I do like a blue flecked pearlescent white. Very subtle, but very chic. I prefer cool tone colouts, for the most part. Do you prefer warm, cools, or neutrals? Also I love the huge nail jewelry and cute charms. I have never tried them. But I want to haha. I feel I would pick at them. Have you ever tried the additions? I have only done tiny gems and painted on designs. 😊

lol fair xD I didn't realise it was brown the year before

I like warm colors (I think?), like for nail polish, I'm drawn to lilac pink and chartreuse (like yellow) green. Everyone was like eugh Mooncat's Banquet of Breadcrumbs is godawful while I'm like this is totally my green haha. My skin is peachy pink, so I think I like colors which look nicer on me, too.

I love em, too! But I haven't tried anything larger than a sticker haha. Because I worry I'd pick at them, too, or they'd fall off. They don't look very practical and I type during my job a lot, so it's a no.

Hiii fellow nail polish lovers! :3

I cleaned up my polish collection this christmas, and I had so much stuff that dried out or didn't fit my vibe any more. Starting to think that collecting that stuff is an entirely different hobby than designing xD I can't do gels or charms because my nail structure is so, so brittle, but colors all the way!

Sorry to jump into that conversation, but have you tried the german indie brand Herzlack? They have the most adorable colors, even metallic and holo, and they work incredible well.

well lilac is cool tone and pink is a funny one. It is technically considered a warm tone, BUT it can have a cool base! Look up "cool tone pink vs warm tone pink" I prefer the cool tone but I do like the lighter pinks in both warm and cool.

I love greens. My hair is a kelly green right now. :) Yellow is a much loved colour but makes me skin tone look wierd. My living room walls are yellow with a deep indigo trim :D

I think it is a collection for some too lol I have to go through and get rid of some of mine as well. I was saying earlier I am thinking of what kind of a art project I can do with the ones I am done with now!

hiiiii Oh no! D: Collecting sure is haha. xD Have you considered adding nail polish thinner? I swear by it. Nothing is "too old" or too thick to throw out. But then again, I might have a hoarding problem. :')

No, I haven't heard of them! They aren't a brand around these parts. The website sure looks sparkly and pretty though. :D

The lilac I'm referring to is more of a pinkish purple/magenta that it feels warmer than the cooler purples. c: fweeee did this work haha it's cooler than warm pinks but warmer than traditional purples, a magical color for me, I love muted magentas like that.

That's a gorgeous color to have for a hair color. ;3;

Pure yellow on nails looks so off, but I'm hoping the yellow crelly from Clionadh changes my mind. xD

Your living room sounds exciting. Yellow with indigo is a lovely contrast.

Oooo I love magenta, and muted shades as well. I just ordered a steel colour of hair dye to add to my brighter colours to make more muted hair colours. I mixed up a green teal-ish colour and it is so bright my eyes hurt lol. I am going to add Grey and some white to lighten and mute it out a bit. I wish it was easy to mix nail polish like that! Id be a mad scientist mixing all of my colours muah ha ha!

Also I tried a nail polish thinner it didn't work well for me. What brand do you use? Maybe it was a brand thing? It was years and years ago so maybe formulas have gotten better too. Nail polish and makeup/beauty products has come a long way! I am really into medicube (Korean) skincare. I am 49 and get mistaken for early 30's . Which is nice... but I did earn my years 🤣

It can be! You can get palettes and/or empty nail polish bottles. :3

Wow, that's impressive. Must be excellent skincare you use. :D I'm in my mid 30s and get mistaken for about a decade or half a decade younger, not as impressive.

For nail polish thinner, you need it to have two ingredients - butyl acetate, ethyl acetate - especially if thinning indie/boutique polishes so that you don't interfere with glitters, shimmers, etc. if there are ingredients to the thinner. Sometimes you definitely need more drops than instructed. My thinner with those two ingredients is from OPI but grabbing whatever thinner has those two ingredients should work. c: Yeah, they've come a long way!

I like Essie Expressie Iced Out FX. Recently I bought Olive & June Pink Goldfish. I like those kinds of effects. The best is getting a gel manicure at the salon with chrome powder!
