Now that many of the building blocks are in place, it's a lot easier to start moving features over one by one, and making major improvements to them!
I'm excited to re-introduce 🎣 Fishing! I've made a ton of changes from how it works in the legacy game, so please leave feedback!
Major Changes
Grid-Based Gameplay: Instead of the old pixel-perfect 400x400 map where you had to click the exact spot, the new system uses a grid! Beginner mode is a forgiving 10x10 grid, so clicking anywhere in the correct grid cell counts as a perfect catch. No more frustration trying to guess exact pixels!
Multiple Difficulty Levels: The old game had one difficulty. Now you can unlock and play four different difficulties: • Beginner (10x10 grid, 6 moves, 30 min cooldown) • Intermediate (20x20 grid, 5 moves, 45 min cooldown) • Expert (pixel-perfect, 4 moves, 60 min cooldown) • Master (pixel-perfect on 500x500 map, 3 moves, 90 min cooldown)
Higher difficulties give better XP multipliers and better prizes!
Progressive Unlocks: You start with Beginner difficulty and unlock harder modes as you level up your fishing skill. There's now a full progression system with experience points, levels, and unlockable content.
Equipment System: You can now equip fishing rods, bait, and lures/hooks from your inventory! Each piece of equipment gives bonuses to your catch quality and success rate. The old game never actually used your fishing items, soon we'll be incorporating items into features more in this way.
Dynamic Prize Pools: Instead of fixed item tags, prizes now come from dedicated fishing prize pools with weighted chances. Better distance = better prize tier. Perfect catches can award r99 items on your first perfect catch per difficulty!
Underground Fishing Integrated: The underground spring fishing (previously a separate simple game) is now fully integrated as a location option! It has its own unified prize pool with weighted chances, making it much more rewarding than the old "random tag" system.
Smarter Feedback: The old game just said "hot" or "cold." Now you get specific feedback like "You're very hot! The perfect spot is extremely close!" and the game prevents you from clicking the same spot twice.
Achievement System: Track your fishing accomplishments! Unlock achievements for perfect catches, playing multiple games, using equipment, and reaching level milestones.
Challenges: Complete fishing challenges to earn special rewards and track your progress toward goals.
Pet Skills: Your active pet now gains fishing experience too! While your player fishing level unlocks content, your pet's fishing skill provides roleplay bonuses.
New Features
✨ Real-time Updates: The game uses new tech for smooth, modern gameplay without page refreshes ✨ Move History: See all your previous guesses and distances in one place ✨ sP Rewards: Earn sP based on your distance and difficulty, with perfect catches earning 50k-250k sP depending on difficulty ✨ 🔜 Challenger Unlocks: Small chance to unlock new battle opponents based on your performance and difficulty ✨ Multiple Locations: Underground fishing with its own unique prize pool is available now! ✨ Smart Cooldowns: Different cooldowns per difficulty level, so you can play beginner mode more frequently
Room for Growth - What's Next?
The new fishing system is built with expansion in mind! Here are some ideas for how we could continue building on it: New Fishing Locations: • Each major zone on the Subeta map could have its own unique fishing spot!
Expanded Equipment: • More fishing poles with unique abilities (faster cooldowns, extra moves, etc.) • Special baits that attract specific item types • Tackle boxes that let you save equipment loadouts • Rare legendary equipment with powerful bonuses
Special Events: • Seasonal fishing tournaments with leaderboards • Limited-time "legendary fish" that appear during events • Fishing competitions between players • Daily fishing bounties for specific catches
Social Features: • Aquarium to display your rarest catches
This is just the beginning - the system is flexible enough to add pretty much anything fishing-related!
What do you think? This is still in testing, so I'd love your feedback on: • Is the grid system more fun than pixel-perfect guessing? • Are the difficulty levels balanced? • Do the prizes feel rewarding? What are items that would make it feel more rewarding? Keep in mind that even if we used 20 new fish, they'd become common relatively fast. • Which new locations would you be most excited to fish in? • What equipment or features would you like to see added? • Any bugs or confusing parts?
Give it a try at /games/fishing and let me know what you think!

I've been fishing from the news post onward and like it very much -
what I've posted already
(including asking for a fishing topic - check! ;-) however, I can't find it on legacy. I only detected it, because my sidebar again reset to automatic (?) and thus I saw it mentioned on Shoutbox and Updates.
Page again very bloated. I need to scroll down to see the distances. I hate, that I cannot go back and forward on the fishing pages, to check, what I won or what level I'm now, but once I leave a page it's gone, backtabbing sends me to the news comment. Of course I could open in a new tab or window, but going back and forth often is more practical, let alone, I don't realize, I can't run through the pages.
Why is there a "continue" button, when we have to wait half an hour? I suppose alerts in general are not yet implemented on Kumos?
Other than the link on the news page, which will eventually get drowned, there is nowhere to locate that game on the site. Yeah, I can bookmark it, but how many bookmarks do I need for Kumos, because there is absolutely no navigation so far... There is a "games" button on the explore drop down, however, like them all it leads to legacy frame.
I guess the poles are permanent, while the baits one use? Shouldn't pets' fishing skill depend on their intelligence in a way? Can I fish with all pets or do I need to stick to that one, that happened to be active on first try?
Prizes: Perfect Catch! Amazing! You found a rare treasure chest on your first perfect catch for Beginner difficulty! Inside was: Magic Toast on the "Fair" levelled win I received a 5 mio sP holiday item, on the perfect catch the 42k priced SR toast. Go figure. I was only 20 away, but I got a "Fair" rating & prize, when this should be "Rare" Very close (≤20 distance)? (happened to others as well) Love the pecuniary reward, better than most of the item prizes, that come with it. I just had a perfect catch on my first move and earned 100k - and the Underground Springs book.
I'm liking it so far. My main criticism is the prizes need rebalancing. I've gotten expensive event items for not finding the treasure (I assume because the item name contains "boot") or I find the treasure and I get common items like the underground springs fish. As things currently are, I don't see any reason to even visit the underground springs location, as I've not seen any rare items there.
The new fishing has potential! I'm looking forward to seeing how the tackle and bait will work.
One quick little bit of feedback: When I reach the daily limit (like 4 expert level games or whatever) I don't know that until I try to start a game and then I get an error. There needs to be a way to go back to the main fishing page so I can start a game with different parameters that's not affected by the cooldown. There's no back button or anything now and hitting the back arrow on my browser takes me away from the fishing game. I have it bookmarked but that's rather inconvenient when the page should just provide proper navigation.
I kinda like it, but I have two main feedbacks:
I just fished for the very first time, so it was beginner, and had no idea what I was doing and randomly clicked and received a cash shop item that stated it was "trash"... i mean i'll take it but i'm not sure that was supposed to happen. item was
eta: i did not find the treasure and have 10xp
[font=monospace]
I received the same item in the beginning. Don't worry, later items are mostly trash, lol.
Is there a progress bar for your fishing level? I see one for my pet's fishing level, but I don't see one for my overall fishing level which seems to increase more slowly.
Edit: Expert fishing has an issue. The "dot" from your previous selection is too large. I was only 18 pixels away and the other day around 8 pixels, and I felt like I couldn't select a position because the red dot covers more than one pixel. Please adjust the size of the 'dot' or, better yet, make it so that you can select inside of the dot (not on the exact pixel of your previous selection.)

...1. The prizes aren&;t really worthy. I found the treasure and got things which worth like 2500 sP...
Yeah, but look at this for example... this prize really sucks.. It was intermediate level & underground fishing, I caught it in my 3rd guess.

Yes, I agree, just as I said, the prizes suck in intermediate, it looks as if they were only underground fishing loot, but in my opinion the money makes up for it. Weirdly, item prizes seem better and more varied on the beginner level and pond.
My first game today 10/12/25 Activity Timers 🎣 Fishing (8/10 left) Available now! Resets 15 hours from now 🎣 Fishing (7/8 left) Available now! Resets 17 hours from now 🎣 Fishing Cooldown (0/1 left) Ready 44 minutes from now ● Activities ready to play!
Twice? Something is not correct here. Wasn't it 1/2 an hour? Or do intervalls increase with levels? Also can I not make heads or heels of the "(8/10 left)" that looks the same in the evening, when I have 1/8 only left... Some clarification would be helpful, please.
Pet was @ 1,981 XP... so +600 XP, should be 2,581 XP (1,981 + 600 ), but only gave +300 XP = 2,281 XP now. =/ Is it an imaginary amount you get or a subtraction depending on OR is it split between You and your pet ( +300XP each ) ... ?? Can not know, because it does not show how much XP a user gets each time. [edit] 🎣 Perfect Catch! Common Perfect! You found the legendary fishing spot and caught an amazing prize! Final Distance 0 Experience Gained +600 XP sP Earned +50,000 sP Pet Experience Gained! Your pet earned 2581 fishing XP!
🎉 Pet Fishing Level Up! Now level 6! . . .[edit]🎣 Perfect Catch! Legendary You found a quest item! Perfect! You found the legendary fishing spot and caught an amazing prize! Final Distance 0 Experience Gained +600 XP sP Earned +50,000 sP Pet Experience Gained! Your pet earned 3717 fishing XP! 🎉 Pet Fishing Level Up! Now level 7! Achievement Earned! 🏆 Master Fisher
I just got 4 away on Expert Fishing with one turn remaining. I clicked on the edge of the "red" dot of that previous point, and it ended at 4 away as well. It was impossible to get exactly on the treasure, because the red dot got in the way. That needs to be adjusted.
In addition, I don't believe the prizes (Exp) are adequate for Expert. If I get 4 away on Expert Fishing, I think the exp prize should be much higher. That's harder to do than getting perfect catch on intermediate or beginner. I have 218 perfect catches out of 312 games, most of them on Intermediate. When I get within 10 on expert, that's pretty darn good and I think the prize (exp specifically) should reflect that.

This - dots are in the way.
Just now (10/21/25 at 2:22am): You've reached your limit of 4 expert fishing games. Try again 5 hours. Did Kumos not reset, or is Kumos running on a different schedule?
Actually no problem - I just play on a different level, like when it runs out on "the actual day". Just saying...
It would also be nice, if we didn't have to make our way through 3 clicks choosing options, only to be told, we can't play on that level anymore. And then rinse and repeat. The difficulty is the first click, already then it should say, that we have run out on that.
Re Kokomo's XP problem - I've been wondering much the same. it seemed to adjust with refreshing the page after finishing the game. However, since he lists 2 consecutive games, I am obviously wrong. It did in the first place take me a while to realize, that for that very game I did not earn the amount listed below, but that was the overall number.
I'm still asking for a lot more clarification and answers to our questions. However, of course not now, that we have to be thankful the site is running at all with the problems in spite of the maintenance.
Ok so I alway love a new game, fishing is no exception. I was having rubbish luck finding treasure - until I realised I was using the position (e.g 3,4) as how many blocks I was away from the treasure, so I’d be 3 across, 4 up or down…
Now I’ve realised this is not the way to do it and successfully found the treasure. I haven’t noticed any bugs on mobile either. Top work.

these are good updates! the first time I tried, I didn't quick get what the number distance was telling me, so I did bad for my first round, but I figured it out, and I think it's actually much more intuitive than the old "hot/cold" hint method. I think it's funny that the trash prize I got from my first game is worth more in user shops than the legendary prize I got in my second game, so maybe the prize pool could be looked at. but honestly I am more excited about the potential future features, and these updates do make me feel more inclined to play this game.
Can a link to the new Fishing be display on the news along with the new quests and the contests please? :)
New bug: on Expert, if the treasure spot has a zero for the X coordinate, when you click it, it ends the game but says your final distance is 999 and gives you trash reward. 999 is more distance than is possible in the grid (~565). I assume the calculation is trying to divide by zero and goes towards infinity. I wonder what may occur when there is a 0 in the Y coordinate.
