Wanting to get my pets promoted! I've been reading to my pets constantly, but just read a guide that implies the only get intelligence stat if they get that "got an alchemy point!" alert. If so...omg. So many books.
Does anyone have any advice on leveling intelligence that isn't Magic Spindles or boost items? (unless it's tips/tricks with those two things, of course!)
Thanks <3
@ bobaTJ nooo you've got it backwards. AP does not affect intelligence; intelligence affects AP. no reciprocal dependency at all even a little bit.
your pet gains ONE point of intelligence for EVERY book read (although there are also books that increase intelligence by more than one point at a time). apart from books, it's just boosters and spindles. (maybe? can't remember if intelligence can be boosted via random event, scratchcards, or oracle rewards...)
for every 16 intelligence points your pet gains, they will also gain 1 alchemy point, a level that determines which scrolls your pet can make and equip. however, the point is that they can ONLY gain this AP from reading a book, so while intelligence gained from other methods counts toward this increase, it cannot TRIGGER the increase. regardless, you don't need to worry about that unless you're battling and working with scrolls.
[edit]oh yeah and intelligence is one of the stats you can randomly gain as a bonus while collecting your pet's job income.
Hi! Alchemy points are for battling. You get 1 AP for every 16 books read. The amount of AP you have determines how many scrolls you can equip. It's not relevant outside of battling, so you don't need to worry about it at all.
Mystic Spindles is a great option for earning the first 30-40 points of a pet's intelligence. It's a cheap, yet time-intensive way, to get free points. I always do this for my low intel pets, since they end up 20-30 points ahead than my pets who I didn't do this for and requires less books to be read overall (which is helpful for hitting those requirements on higher paying jobs like SubQ and Space).
The main way is to read books. You can go on Subetalodge and set the filters to see every main and event shops' collection of books. It's easiest to buy books in bulk from the Kumos shops since there's no five second cool down.
For other sources, you can randomly gain intelligence from collecting your pets' income everyday and playing scratchcards. Otherwise, boosters are the main way once you exhaust all the cheap options. That said, as someone with several pets over 700 intel., you don't need boosters at all (you don't even have to play Mystic Spindles if you don't want to). Just a lot of patience.
A-HA! Thank you so much for clarifying. I was a little horrified by how long it was going to take, and how much time I had apparently wasted. <3
also made a great guide that helps with a lot of the book grinding part! The Book Grind Guide v1.0
