I have the desired pet active, took the nostalgic book to Vanya. He asked for three things, then created the rough outline of the Bhakoru. He's now asking for an essence. What essence should I be getting specifically? Essence of Melody? And what do I do once I get said essence? MY WALLET IS RUNNING DRY AND I WANT MY DINO.

Yes, you will need an Essence of Melody. Then go back to Vanya with and in your inventory to have your active pet changed.

bhakorus are less common because, as you've seen, they can't be created via normal means. they used to be tied to a plot (which occurred... 14 years ago) so only people who had completed the last stage had access to making them. then that method got closed off to everyone, so even people who had completed the plot can no longer create them. the only way to get a bhakoru now is the method you used.
