I noticed that the masquerade costume contest only had three votes, but a huge number of entries I spoke with some other users, and it seems that the voting notification got lost among all the holiday notifications.

I think a way to help make costume contest information standout would be to make it its own notification type, similar to how smail and gifts etc. Are their own notification categories.

I think the contests are a super fun way to generate engagement, They just need to have awareness spread!

I'm pretty sure that one told me that I wasn't allowed to vote because the creator of the contest was the one picking the prizes rather than by vote? At least that's how the message came across.

I have no issue with the contests having their own section in the events tab though so support.

I support contests being their own type of alert. Especially on Kumos I have been struggling to sort through my notifications.

SUPPORT This would make contest notifications - especially as the contest system becomes more refined and ingrained into subeta - something that would, i think, help generate more interest. If the notifications get hidden easily amongst others, more people forget that it exists. :c since it relies so much on user engagement, there’s little point to having them unless people know.

I completely forgot to check costume contests after the first week. Would definitely have loved a notification about an official contest during the site event, and definitely agree that both contests and voting needs to be advertised better.

Honestly, instead of making this a separate category, I'd rather all event notifications be a separate category. The autoprice and subscription notifications got lost in the dances too, I think. Quite a few things fall under "Other"!

yup that one was creator's choice voting, though it looks like they only selected a first place winner and left the other places to be randomly filled.

i think notifications could certainly use some better separation, especially over on kumos where they all get lumped together in the sidebar (and don't even let you see more than three at once). (also why do contest completion events still not link to the contest? i want to see the outcome!!)

i can't remember why but i think there was some sort of delay on adjusting event categories as something needed to be changed with how they're handled on the backend; iirc the way they currently work is that they get automatically categorized based on keywords within the notification itself, which is why sometimes different instances of the same type of notification (e.g. CW shop notices, forum group mentions) can show up in two different sections.
