hi everyone! :) my name's hachi and i came over after hearing about it from other neopets/livly island players. i'm enjoying it so far, but it's a little bit overwhelming! i did some of the tutorial but i think i messed up (i didn't realize i was using the legacy site) because now it won't let me pick up where i left off haha. are there any guides or resources you recommend for new players? anything i should keep in mind while starting out? thanks a lot, and i'm looking forward to spending more time here~!

Not familiar with Livly Island, but we do have a lot of Neopets expats here! There's a bunch of guides that might help below.
What do you enjoy doing on those sites? Eg. pets? customisation?

ah, thank you for all the great links! :) livly's very customization heavy pet care game, so i came to subeta because it felt like a nice cross between neopets and livly (i'm not too fond of the customization on neopets.) i'm interested in collecting lots of wearables for my avatar!
aside from that, i love battling/training/painting my pets, and i'm also intrigued by the collections here on subeta! i'm still figuring out what there is to do on here but i can definitely already see that there's a lot to discover :)

Ooh battling on Subeta is really fun (and you can earn a lot of challenger specific items) There are a lot of guides in the Battle Forums (a sub forum under General Discussion), it might take a little bit to get into because there's a lot of info, but if you're ever confused, the community are really helpful.
Personally, I found unlike on Neo (possibly because there's no multiple accounts per user on Subeta), you don't get trolled a bunch for asking a genuine question x) There's a battle chat thread where you can ask things if you're finding the guides overwhelming too c:
Customising/'painting' pets is pretty affordable here, there's a few slightly pricier potions, but a lot of the really nice colors can be earnt fairly cheaply, maybe even with a day's worth of quest profits so choosing the pets you want might take more time. Though because it's fairly affordable, even if you change your mind later it's not a big deal :D
