How many changes (if any) need to be done to old official subeta artwork for me to use it on the appropriate pet/color morph to be ok? I never really used this feature before and the criteria isn't listed on the custom pet image page.

the rules just say:

  • No unaltered official Subeta artwork.
  • Don't simply adjust the hue/saturation/colour of official artwork - this distorts quality/lines.

because custom overlays have to be unique, it can't be an image that someone else could have used as their custom overlay, which is why even old official pet art has to be altered in some way. so it doesn't specify an amount by which the art needs to be changed; just that it needs to be changed in some way, and not just by using the adjustment sliders in Photoshop (at least not in a way that produces a visibly lower quality than recoloring by hand). what changes were you thinking of making?

I might just have to make a ticket since I want to use the OLD, old angelic kerubi, originally made by mysticcookie... but it's so low res, I don't know if they would just automatically reject it, if they're worried about hue distortion? :/ It's been 20 years so I doubt mysticcookie would even have the original file herself.

This is an edit I made earlier, but I don't know if they would find it acceptable, but the image quality looks the same to me. ^^;

it's not really low-res, since all pet images are 200x200, just in a different art style. i can't say for sure whether or not the color adjustments you've made count as enough of a change from the original to be approved. also your edit has some white scribbles in the background but maybe you just weren't done removing it. (the original and the edit also appear to have faint horizontal lines near the top and bottom of the image.)

Ohh that's from when I had to get ride of transparency between layers - my monitor doesn't pick up on it easily, so thankyou for letting me know.
