🀄 Hello everyone, I've been working on a new version of our tiles game. One that we can easily add to by adding new tile styles, as well as automatically scaling with new pet species on the site.

You can get an idea of how we plan to add more styles and modes from the https://keith.kumos.subeta.net/games/tiles/help help page. It outlines how the scoring works, but at a basic level:

And each style (wooden, stone, metal) has it's own individual scoring:
these are not the final scoring methods, in particular i'm likely to change stone to be less... not good
But you can also see how we'll add to this in the future with new styles, and game modes. Speaking of...
Right now only the basic Foundations game mode is available, but we can add new modes with granular rule sets really easily. For example, the next mode is likely to be called 💎 Gem Collectors 💎 and introduce the emerald, sapphire and ruby styles. Getting all three of them in a pile gives you +100 points, and this game mode encourages you to get more than that with a x2 gem bonus but require you to earn at least a certain amount of points from gems.
The cool thing about game modes is we can create a lot of them, and then rotate through bonus game modes which might change once per day, and give you an extra tile choice at the end, or something like that.
At the end of the game you can choose one of the top three tiles from your piles and add it to your (new) tile collection https://keith.kumos.subeta.net/games/tiles/collection right there. This is a brand new collection that will grow as we add new styles and species to the site. I'm going to keep the V1 of tiles around for as long as it works, and make it possible to earn the tiles from that game in other ways (maybe even in a special 'legacy' game mode of this game?).
I'm also interested in how we could make the game modes, daily game modes, challenges, etc more interesting in terms of prizes. Achievements? I'm already working on a set of fun ones related to the game as it is, but would love more ideas.
So, give the game a try, and think of it as more of a spiritual successor to our existing tiles game when giving suggestions please 🤙

I see a nice list of Tiles achievements in the achievements page, are they obtainable at the moment?
Glad to hear you plan to keep the original V1/Legacy tile collection items available somehow. I know it's just silly pixels from an extremely old game, but as someone who is only missing 10 of them for the collection, it would be nice to finally be able to get them some kind of way.
I'll try this new version once I have some more time later!
Determining between stone and metal was difficult at first. Perhaps if possible to have a quick visual of the frames in the rules. I love the error notice but it still took me a second to figure it out. Otherwise it was fun and I can see myself trying to collect them all.
Oh, I didn't play Tiles in ages, that felt so retro! The game took a while to load the "click the stack, then the tile" (I might blame Chrome on that) but as soon as it worked once it worked fine after.
I agree that the two grey tile borders are quite similar. Maybe the design could be changed to idk, different colored coda crystals in the border or a wooden/metal/stone tile background?

The game is not working for me on Mobile, Samsung internet.
Everyone catches things before I am prepared, hah! Those were meant to be example achievements, I'll remove them today so they stop showing up, but it kind of gets into my philosophy.
I want to have achievements that make you change your play style, or really go for it in the game, vs "win 5 games, win 10 games". That's why I'm letting you submit over and over now

I'm really going to need more information :( Are you not seeing anything on any of the pages, only the play page, etc? Is it showing the layout and nothing inside of it? I really can't do anything with the amount of information you've given me :/

And also -- the art on the tiles is not final! We'll be changing the stone and metal to be more clear the difference, we were playing around with how much we can do with the overlay image (you'll notice that each 'tile' is really a border + pet image + overlay) without it obscuring the pet too much

Sorry for being super vague haha.
when I go to play, it shows a box, but there's nothing in the box. I can see the instructions, but there's no game for me to play
I'm also playing on mobile (Android, Brave browser (chromium-based). I didn't really understand at first that the "Foundations" box was a button, I wish it had an arrow or was somehow more distinct to prompt me to select it. I thought I was having the same issue as Bliss, but I was able to play the game fine once I selected the game mode. Although on mobile the tiles are hilariously outsized! But definitely playable.

Thank you for that feedback, i'll make that page more interesting (and we've got more art, now!) soon and make it clear how to start a new game.
I'll also take a look at the mobile versions of those tiles, heh.

It woked fine for me and was really fun!
Have the sudden urge to complete those collections, starting with wood of course, because that is listed first. When picking what tile to choose as the prize at the end of the game, might there be some indication that you already have that tile? Might already be there, I've only played five or ten games so the animals might not be duplicating yet, but in the future that may be something to consider. There's so many of them I can see I will never remember what I don't have yet
