This is a broad topic for feedback, bug reports, theme requests, etc.

The user profiles are sacred on Subeta, and you might not even remember that they're the V2 of user profiles. There were earlier ones that were just a narrow column, and the ability to add custom CSS. still a ton of creativity, and you can bet that people were holding on to their v1 layouts as long as they possibly could. I know they'll do the same with these!

Right now there are a few blocks, and not a lot of customization, but at least you get the idea, and the editing is in place 🎉. I'll keep building on them, and you let me know what blocks you need to have first!

What about pet profiles? So, I'm going to give user profiles a similar treatment (as much as possible) as I will pet profiles. Right now pet profiles can render a near copy of legacy - https://kumos.subeta.net/pet/5972396 - and you'll be able to flip between them. Getting that right was hard, and unfortunately it won't be perfect. We'll be able to make it so that all pet profiles link to the old versions, at least.

oh whoops, i think i made this before you made a forum for this specifically, so i'll slide this in over here but my kumos user profile now throws a 500 error after trying to edit my interests. the bug with the sidebar expanding to take up most of the page (which has since been fixed) hid the interests box behind it, so i couldn't read the instructions, and i simply navigated away from the page without saving, and ever since, it throws the 500 error. originally it was just a blank page with no favicon or anything and i had to check the browser console to see it was a 500 error, but now i get the "oops! something went wrong" popup as of like, yesterday.

no idea what the repro rate on this is, but here's the steps i took to get this error in-detail:

1. navigate to my user profile
2. click the cog wheel to edit my interests
3. click inside the text box to edit my interests but do not type anything
4. navigate away from the page without saving
5. return to my profile and observe the 500 error

outside of that, yeah i mean. looks like the new user profiles will be a big change 🥹 starts lovingly at my carefully curated and hand-made legacy user profile. lol. but i'll just have to learn the new system and make something cool with it. the only block i can think of (right now, i am sure i will think of more) that i would absolutely love to have is one with interaction buttons for the holidays (so like, a dance button, a kiss button, a lumi tree button, etc.) and ideally one in which i can toggle the different buttons (so i can turn off, say, kisses if i don't want kisses from random users, or turn off the tree if it looks ugly on my current profile, etc.)

Oh I remember those V1 profiles. They had such an early internet myspace feel!

Some ideas and thoughts on user profiles.

New Blocks:

• The number one block I think most users will want (myself included) is a custom text block, so we can write an intro or share some info.
• I’ve never been a huge fan of the YouTube block, but I know some people really like having videos on their profiles. It feels very Myspace, and honestly, I’ve never clicked on a YouTube video on any user profile. (Although, I did have a hidden autoplaying one on my profile when I was 16 and could force autoplay… no idea what I was thinking, haha). Do we still want to keep this block? I’m not sure!
• There doesn’t seem to be an "interaction" block yet, with options like “send a smile” or “send friend request,” etc. It would be neat if this block could automatically include current seasonal interactions too. Maybe these features aren’t working on Kumos yet, which is why this block doesn’t exist for now!

Current Blocks:(I know this is still super early, and I’m guessing most of these aren’t bugs—just features that haven’t been fully implemented yet.)

• Pets: The “view all” button isn’t implemented yet. It’d be nice if we could choose which pets to display on our profile and decide whether to show them as full images or headshots (like on Legacy right now). Maybe a “favorite pets” feature could be added, so those favorites are displayed at the top? For convenience, I prefer having my pets sorted alphabetically, and I usually use custom icons to display them anyway. But for people who use the default widget, it’d be great to have a way to select which pets to feature that’s separate from how they’re sorted on the site.
• (Side note: I dream of being able to sort pets into “folders” like on Toyhouse. Maybe that could be an interesting feature? When clicking on “view all pets,” it could show them in custom folders.)
• Extended Information: We can’t add info to this block yet, but I love the website field! Adding social links to this section could be fun too.
• Comments: There’s no comment box yet for leaving comments.
• Outfits: Same as with pets—it’d be awesome to choose which outfits to display.

Other Ideas:

I love the CSS Snippets feature for the site theme and wonder if something similar could work for user profiles! Like a “user-made profile theme” section where people could share custom theme code that could be applied with a single click. Maybe users could even “fork” themes (if the original creator allows it, of course). Right now, a lot of theme creators host their designs off-site or on the Profile & Graphics forum, but imagine the possibilities if this could all be done directly from the profile page! (And naturally, I’d love to see this kind of feature for pet profiles too.)

I'll try to make sure I add more thoughtful input later, but being able to completely customize user and pet profiles with custom CSS like we can do currently is an incredibly important feature to me and I hope it never goes away.
