Hey Subetans! Before we open up user-run avatar contests, we wanted to test out the system with a series of themed contests. Each of these contests focuses on a specific item that we want to see styled in creative new ways.

The Contests

👑 Crowning Glory

Celebrate one of Subeta's first wearables! The Magical Fairy Crown may be from the early days, but we want to see how it fits into modern Subetan fashion. Royal vibes optional - we're looking for creative interpretations of this classic piece.

🪄 Wand-erful Mistakes

Remember when we made weapons for Koras... that also had to work on avatars? The Kora Wand of Transformation might be confused about its purpose, but that doesn't mean your outfit has to be! Show us your best "magical transformation gone adorably wrong" looks.

👁️ One Eye on the Prize

The Underground's favorite cyclops-inspired dessert takes center stage! The Silly Monster Tart is here to inspire your sweetest monster creations. Whether you're going scary or silly, show us your most delightful creature design.

👀 Eyes On You

Sometimes the silliest items make for the best outfits. The Big Ol Googly Eyes are here to help you embrace your inner cartoon character. Time to get ridiculous!

Important Rules for All Contests

As this is our test run for the avatar contest system, we have some specific rules that won't necessarily apply to future user-run contests:

• Item Ownership: You MUST own every item used in your outfit. Every item! The 👀 eyes on you 👀 contest is separate, and does not have this rule.

Think of these as our "stress test" contests - we want to make sure the ownership verification system works properly before opening it up to everyone. Future user-run contests will likely be more flexible with ownership requirements!

Ayo, I heard about the 👀 Eyes On You contest via Shoutbox and submitted an entry, but now I realize from your thread post that I must own every item I used... or must I not? The “Item Ownership Required” banner, which is displayed on the two other contests' pages, is missing on this one so I'm confused... 😭

Do this when you are on your laptop as it doesn't look like you can select entries on mobile

For some reason, it will not let me enter my HA for the Wand-erful Mistakes contest. Even though my HA has the item needed in it and it is set to public.

well i managed to enter one of the contests but it took a lot of effort! i had the contest tab open while making my avatar in another tab. then when i saved the avatar and was ready to enter, i went back to the contest tab and clicked "enter contest" and then "load and validate outfits" and got a popup saying the page had expired, prompting me to refresh it.

this brought up an error page (the one with the computer geek NPC image) although it did then automatically successfully refresh the page, but trying to load my avatars kept bringing up the same "page expired" error. so i closed the tab and navigated back to the contest page the "right" way, clicked the buttons again, only to be told none of my avatars meet the requirements. realized i forgot to actually set them to public, went and did that in another tab, refreshed the contest page (AGAIN), clicked the buttons (AGAIN)... page expired. refresh. ok. i close it and navigate back to the page AGAIN. finally, FINALLY after refreshing, closing, reopening, re-refreshing, etc this one single page about a million times, i am presented with the option to enter an avatar... select the avatar, click the button to submit my entry...

PAGE EXPIRED.

well. obviously i eventually got it to work but WHAT is going on? was the 3 whole seconds between selecting my avatar and clicking the submit button really too long for the page to handle sticking around for? i will try to be more efficient when entering the other contests.

I'm trying to sumbit an entry for the Kora wand one but it keeps saying none of my outfits are valid-- is anyone else having this issue?

are you sure the outfits are set to public? you have to set it via the kumos outfits page, not through the wardorbe itself. on kumos, everything defaults to unlisted, even if it's marked public on the outfits page inside your wardrobe. and of course also double check that you actually own and have in your wardrobe every item used in the outfit (i had missed one and was pretty confused for a minute but got it sorted out).

Important request: Since this contest demonstrates that you can have the site find our saved outfits that fit a criteria, could we have a way to do this without making a contest please? Like, find the outfit(s) of our own saved ones that use a certain item? (ideally, including private ones!)

I was finally able to enter mine for the Wand-erful Mistakes contest. No idea why it wouldn't let me enter yesterday.

Yeah, I've double and triple checked too. I'm certain I own everything in the outfit too. I wonder what the issue is :o

I do seem to be having an issue voting in the Keith's Testing Contest. I am on laptop using Microsoft Edge. When going to vote I see a VOTE button next to each outfit, but when I click load more there is only a button next to the last entry that has loaded.

2 - I'm able to enter the contests with the required item, because very few of my saved avatars fit the requirements.

But I can't enter the Dress Me contest, though, because too many of my avatars fit the requirements so the program just gives an error. Can you change it so it stops after finding X outfits (where X is a number it can safely handle, maybe 100?) You could put in pagination so it would load the next 100 if none of those is what the user wants to use to enter, perhaps? Or let the user enter additional criteria to use (outfit name, or tag, or something, so it can narrow down the options)?

I have the option to Highlight Post and Official Post and Event Everyone - not sure I should have those options - the Highlight one sounds benign so I'll try it and see what it does 😁
