I super love the little cake icon that appears on a user's birthday. It makes me feel special / celebrated, and it helps me to celebrate others when I happen to catch it. It can be hard sometimes to make sure you don't miss any friend's b-days since the only way to know is asking ahead of time or catching the icon on the day, so I was thinking it would be really cool if: (1) Users could choose to have their b-day (Month and Day, not Year) visible in the basic info on their profile (2) Users could also opt to have their b-day (M&D, not Y) visible on any friend's lists they're on (so I would be able to look at my friends list and see the b-day of any friend who has opted to have theirs visible). (Ideas inspired by )

This would make it much easier to plan ahead and to celebrate B-Days!

Related to this, I would love to see some additional wrapping patterns in the Gift Center! Ideas I had based on common gifting themes:

• Pawprints
• Cakes, Balloons
• Hearts
• Smiley Faces

I could get behind this. Especially if we could have a widget that would be opted in, so I can every day see if someone pops up in there, or if it was by month too that would be cool.

In terms of wrapping papers: Would love subeta themed ones like specific pets or characters or locations.

If I remember correctly they are no longer restockable which is fine, but it would be nice to have more options. I am pretty sure most people just pick random for 1k instead of a specific one for 7.5k. I would love a revamp in general to the whole gifting section that would let us see what the gift would look like. And probably just remove the 1k random option. Cute gift tags for the messages would also be fun. But it also might be too image intense.

Oh, I love the idea of a Widget! That would be SO helpful!

And yes to Subeta-specific wrapping paper! I love that idea. TBH I'd be fine if some of the current ones were retired for new themes. TBH I use the "choose a random wrapping for 1k" option most of the time because there aren't wrapping options that fit gift themes. If there were, I would opt to pick a fitting paper for the extra cost almost every time. I'd even be fine if the random option was eliminated and it was just a blanket 5k and you had to choose, but only if there were better options.

Aw, how cute would it be if instead of "opening" and having the page we have now it had an image of a gift tag with our message on it! I wonder if it could be like, 10 tag design options. Maybe a simple, plain default and then the 9 options and you can choose one for 5k? Simple designs like a heart, a balloon, a paw, a Lumi tree, maybe a few Subeta specific like a Kumos? If it's possible to have the tag image load and the text box with our message just load over the image with a transparent BG and a modified font for easier reading ... maybe that would be not too image heavy or tricky coding wise? Not sure. But I like the idea!

I nearly always pick a wrapping paper for 7.5k. I usually have to click through a few to check which works best.

Yeah that is how I imagined the gift tag, a static image and then our text message being over layed on top. Like if each present got its own tag, I would explore them all.

And yes a calendar widget that listed subeta events or even just like season switch overs and username birthdays would be great.

i would actually like the random option to stay. i hate having to overthink stupid little decisions like this; it's much more freeing to be able to say "it's out of my hands and whatever happens happens."

i guess letting us see which wrapping paper gets chosen would defeat the purpose because if you decide you want a different one, you could just go back and refresh the page and keep trying again until it gives you the one you want, at which point it's no longer totally random.

however i think the cost of choosing a wrapping paper should be reduced. maybe both options could be 1k, or choosing a paper costs 1k while picking a random paper is free. something like that. i just know i'll always go with the cheaper option lol.

That's fair! I think 1k random paper and tag, 5k chosen paper and random tag, 10k chosen paper and chosen tag? It's not much at all in the grand scheme and I think it could serve as a nice tiny sP sink especially if it were even easier to gift for birthdays!

Great point about the refreshing / back button eliminating the random option! I think not seeing what it is until after it is sent makes sense!

I was thinking about a site calendar that had user birthdays included! It would be really cool to have that option. I think it may be necessary to have users who's accounts get tagged as "inactive" or "frozen" automatically be pulled from the calendar (like, but into the code if "frozen", "inactive" then "remove from list" so staff labor has to go into it). That would eliminate it from getting bogged down and messy. And users should have the option on their dashboard to hide their birthday! Privacy is important and people should always have the option to not share personal info. I think this is a great idea because it makes it even easier to birthday gift strangers! Could lead to a more interactive community!

Tangent to that, but it would be super cool if there could be a Gift Center NPC that uses the Melody function (from MM). Users could put in a UN and select a price range, and then the NPC would take the info from the named user's WL and purchase an item within that range from user shops. If there wasn't a WL item in that range the NPC could be programed to either (1) purchase more than one item so that it equals the range, (2) push a notification to the user and their funds are returned, (3) purchase from a list of site currencies like WTs and Sub Invites and send that instead of a WL item. I think it would make random gifting (or really gifting in general I guess) super simple and more impactful!

As long as there's an opt in/opt out thing, I think the birthday system on here could use a serious revamp and this could be a boon.

Personally, I had some former "friends" set out to make me hate my birthday and they rather succeeded, hence why I said I hope this would be implemented with an opt in/opt out function.
