the shoutbox is a legendary subeta institutionāitās been part of the site since practically day one. we shut it down a few years ago bc the legacy codebase was, frankly, a trash fire, and running live chat on it wasā¦ letās just say āa challenge.ā but guess what? ITāS BACK. better than ever, powered by our shiny new live thread functionality.
letās take a little stroll down memory lane. did you know one of the first customizations on subeta was shoutbox backgrounds? back in the day, if you wanted one, you didnāt buy it or unlock it. no, you had to be friends with me to get one. š

the shoutbox was more than just a chat; it was a cultural moment. drama started there, ended there, and sometimes just looped infinitely. this was back when everyone was online all the time, so no tiny slight went unexamined. if someone so much as typoed, the shoutbox would light up. iconic.
sadly, i donāt have exact records of when the shoutbox first launched. our archives only go back to 2010 bc of a massive code meltdown that basically wiped everything before that.
(this is the āfirstā commit for subetaāanything earlier is lost to time and bad coding practices. rip.)
but even in 2014, the shoutbox was still evolving:

now, hereās the plan: iām testing live threads as the new shoutbox format. why? bc itās so much betterāactual forum posts with history, easy moderation, and you can view it outside the tiny sidebar. plus, in a few days hopefully, iāll add a widget for a more familiar vibe. welcome to shoutbox 2.0. š

Should I file a ticket for my free fully mature Hook< I got the alert yesterday, checked today and I dont have it and have none. It did use one of my free virus though.
Ooh okay. Thank you Keith. I'm an avid restocker and haven't seen any rares in the shops I usually check. So I hope that it eventually goes back to working normally again. :3
i do think RSing is still kinda wonky rn, but it was much more painful when it wasnt happening at all! šāāļø
I did make some tweaks to the restocking (when I had to get it working again!) but it shouldn't have been anything drastic. I think the clearing code might not have been running correctly, which means shops "fill up" and can't add more items, like those rares!

My skin finally progressed. On the next to the last stage now. I'm hoping it goes through smoothly to the final skin so I can get the two free ones before it over. I like all the little tweaks, its looking good.

Ugh, the only thing pushing my buttons rn is how the item preview disappears when we are no longer hovering an item on the wardrobe :/

Richest user rankings are gone on our preference/dashboard page, which got a spiffy new look. Love the look too but ranking is gone.
I hope he fixes it! It's been broken for years and I'd love to know where I actually stand. :D

Do not use the healer! I tried to get it to finish and now I'm back to stage 6
strains stuck again? been on the same stage for 10+ hours
Go to the Healer and click on "shouldn't I be infected?" See if the strain is there and get it restored.
Welp, wasted a million to get infected, matched with a specialist, and now the VIP Center shows me having to pick a new strain. Great š«
