i don't think anyone likes the fishing game. compared to other things we have to grind for achievements, it just somehow manages to be the biggest pain in the butt. can it please be changed to be... not like that? just some thoughts:
if anyone else has ideas for how to improve this "game" please feel free to share.
I agree, its very tedious! I mean as tedious as 5 clicks can be, but still. The clues being pointless is the most frustrating part to me, I usually just click randomly and ignore the hints at this point haha. For suggestions, id say either make the clues actually mean something, or make each square in the grid a spot and not each individual pixel if that makes sense? or yeah just scrap the clues and everything entirely and make it a one click guess situation
I got more fish over the land and sand then I have in the water.

I just went fishing in the trees. I agree that this game is dreadful. I like the suggestion of making each square in the grid a spot.
At the very least it should drop markers where you've already clicked. I wouldn't be averse to getting some kind of guide to what the hints actually mean, either -- I keep getting hints that imply I'm near the treasure and then when I get the final screen it says "you were nowhere near it!"
HOW. I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION.
til I learned that each PIXEL is a spot and not each square. Why are the squares even there then??
I think it would be helpful to change the clues to say "the fishing spot is north/south/east/west of here". North would mean it's on a line thats anywhere above where you clicked, east would mean it's on a gridline right of where you clicked, etc. Obviously the spot would actually have two directional markers (I.e north east to indicate move up and to the right, so if they want to make it easier they could include both in the clue. They can add a little compass art to show people what the directions are .
i've always assumed the end screen messages are random and don't actually mean anything wrt how close or far you were from the treasure.
i assume the grid lines are just to help you visualize & remember what general vicinity you last clicked in, but yeah, i also used to think each square was its own space... nope, they'd never make things that simple 🙄
Link to the fishing game for those who can't be arsed to check it and want a refresher.
The grid's about as useful as a wet match in a dark cellar, so are the hints being given by the NPC. At the moment, it's basically just a game of "randomly click wherever, it does not matter because the odds are never in your favor even though the NPC keeps lying to you that they are". Which is dull and does not make me want to engage with it.
So here's a list of potential things to consider as improvements, some mine, some from others on the thread:
1) Make the grid an actual grid, or have a ton of various "zones"/circles/ovals/shapes that randomly cycle their rewards. This would prevent fishing on land and improve odds. (Why can we even fish on land? Y'all telling me Subeta's fish can climb trees?) 2) Have the hints actually be helpful, not frustratingly misleading. I don't want the NPC to tell me sweet little lies while I'm fishing. 😔 3) There are 2 achievements for it - fish up something rare (tiered) and find the treasure. Make them obtainable, but not easy (how many people even have the treasure achievement??). Have the treasure be a random chance if you pick the "good" tile as your final choice. 4) Have the tackle boxes, bobbers and other "junky" fishing rewards actually be useful in some way. Kinda like the lizard minion trap is. Let us combine them into a fishing set, which slightly increases your chance of getting a good reward. Or have us donate them to the NPC, so they can give us a few more hints/turns. 5) Show us the zone/circle/grid tile we picked last. Colorize the tiles we've picked based on how close we were to the treasure & show us how close we were once we're out of turns. This kind of visualization makes the player feel like they actually can find the treasure. Get people hooked (ha!) on returning to the game to try again!
I kinda disagree with some of these points? I got my first 'fish up something rare' achievement on Sept 8th and not long after got the fishing border. I think fishing is a little easier when you understand how to find the treasure area.
The grid is actually pretty useful because I can dissect the map into sections. There are only two kinds of hints: Hot and Cold. Either your last click is closer to the treasure, or it's further away. You can actually get down to 1/8th of the map most of the time (or 1/4 if you aren't as lucky) by clicking the very most top section of the map in the middle, followed by the most bottom section of the map in the middle. This already tells you which half of the map the treasure is in, top or bottom. And then you can figure out which quadrant and maybe which side of the quadrant too. Sometimes if I'm lucky I can figure out which 1/8th of the map the treasure is located in by the third click and can use my 4th to narrow it down even further. However I will put in my two cents on how to improve the game:
