New to Subeta and just wanted to ask a question since this has been something I couldn't find an answer to (yet). What are Legacy Names and do they alter the pet in anyway?
Hope my comment gets you more views.
Level 50 - Currently in Training for DefenseHi, welcome to Subeta!
Prior to mid-2020, pet names were unique. (Veteran players can tell you just how much competition there was when it came to securing coveted names, along with the trials and tribulations of having to resort to adding punctuation, variant spellings, and the like to give their pets desired names.) When the change was made and names were no longer unique, all existing pets had whatever their name was at that time appended as a "Legacy Name".
Functionally, this does nothing; it's really just a bonus artifact on a pet's profile. Many players like to collect pets with legacy names, especially if they fit a character or a pet theme in some way. (Hi, I can be counted among them, lol.) Also, it has no bearing on their display name -- changing a pet's name doesn't affect their legacy name.
Legacy names can be removed at the cleansing pools (located at the bath house -- have you visited the pools today?), but they can never be restored or changed. And pets created after July 26, 2020 will never have legacy names.
[edit]When looking up the specific date of the change, I found this thread which may be helpful if you'd like to know more: FAQ about Legacy Names/Non-Unique Pet Names

[/box]Thank you so much!
I really appreciate you taking the time to explain things. In a way, it's cool to have a piece of history and don't see why anyone would want to get rid of it. (Yes, I have visited the bath house. Been doing well keeping up on it.) I'll be keeping my eye out for them.
Level 50 - Currently in Training for DefenseOh, I'm very tempted by Llewyn (I live in Wales) but I don't know if I have a plan for him. I'll have to think about it. Maybe I can tweak an old druid/bard character...
If you decide you want Llewyn just let me know! I would love for him to keep his Welsh heritage, and the bard character sounds perfect!
yes, I'd like to take him then. Thank you!
