I posted this in the small improvements thread but figured i may as well post a topic, too c: just to elaborate a bit more on my idea!

My idea is this: when doing an account search on an item, to include if a friend has it listed on their wishlist. c: this, i think, would make it so much easier to see if i have an item a friend needs or wants, and would help so much with lumi gifts and etc!

Just a small blurb such as “your friend (user) has this on their wishlist!” would be absolutely perfect c: i’m not sure how hard this would be to implement but it would be such a wonderful, helpful feature if it were!

I think the concept is a good one, but I wonder if that much work would be taxing on the already strained system? Some folks may have a lot of friends, and each of those friends may have large wishlists or lots of categories on their WLs. I think something along the same vein would be being able to go to a friend's WL and search for items you own. Should be similar to the code for the account search feature, but started from their WL not the item hover / item page. I think it's essentially running many "account searches" at one time? IDK if that too is more taxing to the system than is reasonable at this time. I think this was actually a thing once, but maybe I'm crazy LOL. I think this could help for buying / selling boards (being able to search someone's WL on a buying board to know if you have items they're looking for) or for gifting friends!

in case you don't already know, there is a wishlist search feature that lets you limit the results to friends only. sometimes if i have something nice or valuable that i don't want, i'll use that page to see if anyone on my friends list has it wishlisted so i can gift it to them instead of just selling it.

the way what you're describing used to work was that when you were looking at someone else's wishlist, if you owned anything on that wishlist, there would be a line of text under the item telling you that you owned that item. it was in fact removed for being too taxing on the servers because it was essentially running an item search for every item on the page and then showing you the results then and there.

WHAT omg i actually never even noticed that feature!! ;ooo; thank you so much for showing this to me…that will be tremendously helpful and is along the lines of what i was suggesting! (Although my idea was more along the lines of adding to the account search, this essentially accomplishes the same task)
