I enjoyed the first two stories but preferred The Devil's Chord. Jinkx Monsoon made a great villain in my opinion.

I'm not saying too much because I don't want to inflict spoilers on people who haven't seen these episodes yet.

Nope, don't plan to either. I caught the end of one and I am not keen on it in the slightest, especially the whole "musical" bit. I blame Disney specifically for that one.

I still wish they would have let Jodie Whittaker be her own Doctor instead of propping her up with several supporting characters, like they were afraid she wouldn't be able to act on her own or something.

It's still like they're afraid to let the Doctor just be the Doctor.

I liked her companions and it's not the first time the Doctor has had more than one. There were originally three (Ian, Barbara and Susan) and then Peter Davison's version had three. It's all personal viewer preference, though.

I'm fully aware, I grew up with Dr Who. I'm not simply talking for the sake of.

My point was that it seemed like the Doctor went from one gender to another and suddenly needed propping up.

Whereas Peter Davison was a remarkable actor on his own and Jodi Whittaker did a remarkable job in Broadchurch (which is not Subeta friendly so I'm advising caution if you google that but I'm assuming you know what this is), Tennant - while he was there - didn't seem to be there to simply stifle Jodi's presence on-screen. Jodi as the Doctor seemed to be the exact inverse of that. I mean, sure, different show, different writers, etc.

Not to mention that, with Dr Who, the supporting characters with Jodi, when they also were allowed to be characters unto themselves, had great potential for being memorable characters that could have been an incredible dose of inclusivity. Anywhere from a widower to a British police officer to a young man with an invisible illness/disability. There was so much potential that was, in my less than humble opinion, stifled by the writers for the duration.

So yeah, I'm a little wary of a new season of Dr Who that almost immediately drops a musical number in my lap.

TL;DR - Dr Who fudged up with Jodi, who is a good actor on her own, because holy crap, the Doctor changed some bits and pronouns. Prop that up with barely fleshed out side characters who also had potential. Got bored, didn't finish, leery of new season because of previous season.

Sidenote - my Dad's an original Whovian, he showed it to Mom, Mom has been a fan for as long as they've been married (36 years, almost) and I was introduced with Tom Baker. I know more than a passing glance, I just stay out of the Dr Who fandom because it's one of the most toxic fandoms I've ever seen in my life. Coming from Halo, Assassin's Creed and Star Wars. Me? A little offended? No. A little exasperated? Yep.
