In high scores, I think everyone who is tied at the top should be ranked as # 1, then it would jump down to the next available number for whoever comes after those tied.

My primary example is the books high scores list.

At the time of writing this, there are 11 pets who have read all of the books. They are ranked 1-11. But in reality, they are all tied for 1st.

So they could each be ranked as 1st place, then when you get to the first one on the list that hasn't read all of the books, they would be ranked 12 (since they are behind 11 other people). At this point there are two people who are only missing one book. So they could both be ranked 12, then the next four people (missing two books), could all be ranked 14. Then the next group would be ranked 18 and so on.

I don't think this will change because, like actual races, whoever makes it there first would receive first place. Since they are always adding new foods and books, there's always a chance to get to first place eventually.

I'm not sure what other high scores would need a tie, because I haven't looked into it lately, but maybe for other ones I could see this being a thing. So if there was other examples, I could see this maybe becoming a thing. :)

Btw, it actually doesn't work like a race where the first one to the top keeps first place; my gourmand is usually at the top and sometimes is the first one there, but as others catch up, he doesn't always remain at the top of the list. I don't know if it randomizes the pets at each point level every day or what, but he often loses his number 1 ranking even if he got there first, which is (although this is admittedly extremely petty) somewhat annoying. Right now, I'm number 2 on the gourmand high score list but I was number 1 the other day (the current first place pet and mine have eaten every single food but mine did it first). I guess it's an attempt to keep things fair, but ranking everyone with the same top score as number 1 would be even more fair.
