I don’t know much about all the Custom Wearables, or how the CW shops work. I never really paid much attention to those things before, but recently I have been seeing some CW items that I like. When I search in the CW shops for them, though, some of the items don’t show up. It says “No Results Found”. What does that mean? Is it more of a temporary retirement, and the item might be released again at a later date? Or is it more like it’s gone, no more will ever be released again, better luck stalking user shops for it?

CWs are a bit nuanced. A good way to see available options would be going to cash shop tab > custom wearable > browse official directory.
Now when I say nuanced I mean it. Some items are released to everyone. Some requires a password obtained from the creator/released. You can find them sometimes in trades or user shops, so its a good idea to add ones you want to wishlist. So some releasers require passwords for a variety of reasons. It may be a limited item, or meant for a special event or even a way to track who buys what. In the event of coming across any the password is required you may want to look for that releasers thread in the custom wearable forum. Typically on their thread or shop front they explain the limits of their item(s). Sadly another reason for the password is some other users snap up the "cheap" released price and then turn around and demand higher prices, so some creators have the pass on to stop those people from doing such things. So when you search for one if there's a shop availability it'll show up in a yellow bar simply saying Custom Wearable Shop (or something similarly simple) a user Shop with it available its typically going to have well a less official looking name. Trades most users just want a simple swap or their csc cost back out of it. When you look at the official directory you'll see a variety of tags, they're pretty self explanatory and you can sometimes buy directly from there too. Another thing to do is always run a shop search before committing to buying, sometimes its still available or someone is asking more than new price, however if its a normally locked item that one can't just buy a little more of a price is normal. Also use the official directory to your advantage. Some items people will try to sell high but there's like 50+ copies vs say only 10. I'd be more inclined to pay more for something there's only 10 of vs 50+ of you know?

Thank you for this info, I didn’t know about the CW Official Directory. That’s very helpful, it actually answered another question I had, about finding out who made or sold certain CW’s. So, if it says the item is “Warehoused”, its not retired but it also isn’t for sale in a shop. How likely do you think it is that a “Warehoused” item will be restocked…? And if I was really interested in a particular item and wanted to ask about that item, would I contact the Releaser or the Artist? Probably the Releaser?

Also, if the item does come back as “Retired” in the the Directory, then I assume that it will never be released again. My only chance to get a retired CW would be to watch user shops, trades, or giveaways, right?

yes, warehoused means it's currently not being sold but the releaser still has the option of putting it back up for sale in their CW shop. retired means the releaser can no longer sell it in their CW shop.

if you see a warehoused item and the seller doesn't have any particular information related to it in their CW shop description or anywhere obvious like that, you're certainly welcome to message them asking about the item's availability. there's really no hard and fast rule for whether or how often sellers bring back warehoused items, so it's very case by case.

You're welcome! I,I'm glad it wasn't confusing. Yes typically it's always best to contact releasers for questions. Oh also note the yellow star is the older first CW system and teal is newer. This matters a bit on the overall count of some CWs. You'll see some like say suave heels that on the old system used to need a hard cap input vs new where releasers can adjust how many copies will be out. So it won't be uncommon to see some older colors have different things than new ones from the same line. I used suave heels as an example just because they're some that are on both system releases. So yeah retired will mean hoping for one to come up OR if it's a line like suave heels keeping an eye for similar colors that are more available.
