With a little more than a month to prepare for the biggest party of the year this is the place to share your ideas and hopes for Masquerade. Masquerade has been celebrated for many years by Subetans everywhere. Some of us love to prepare our outfits in advance let their last minute creativity shine. Whether you choose to hide your mask or show it off it is your ticket to the dance so don't forget it. If you are new and don't have one yet you may find them early in user shops or run to the Migrating Masks when it opens for the event. Have fun and enjoy!

Masquerade suggestions 2023 Libertine Lounge Steamworks Menagerie

One last note whether you post or not if you see an idea you like don't forget to give the post a heart. I'm reasonably certain they pay attention to which ideas are getting the most attention. Though that doesn't guarantee anything.

Sheer suits and dresses, in jewel tones for the steampunk set and in neons for the cyberpunk set (could double up as jellyshots or foods or something!). There are so many cool skins, body mods, tattoos, and boxer shorts on the site, it would be nice to be able to show them all off a bit more with some see-through clothes! Also if the jackets were recolours of I would be ridiculously happy, that shape is so pretty and wearable on both the body shapes. Dress wise, more figure hugging, mid calf length dresses would be good, as there's really only a handfull currently. Something like but shorter and tighter to the outline of the HA, and maybe with a slit up the front/thigh, would be nice to see.

Ballgown skirts that are literally just chandeliers (it would look really nice if the lights glowed too). Kinda like this Katy Perry dress from that Met Gala but maybe with the chandelier coming all the way down like this to well below the feet of the HA so it doesn't float weirdly with platforms or leg mods. This could be a fun shape for a cyberpunky version, especially with the legs turned off as the lower half of the body would just be a spike of light, but it would look good with the legs on either side too tbh. (I just really want to dress up like a fancy lamp, please help me)

Chatelaines. Jewellery for the waist and upper thighs is sorely lacking and chatelaines are so. on. theme. for both steam and cyber punk Masq styles. (A largish pair of open scissors on the steampunk set would be a funny wlw nod too.)

Chunky platform boots like these, and maybe the holes in the soles could glow with matching colours to the clothes.

Fishnet/lace body stockings with at least one with long sleeves that cover over hands and some designs without feet/arms (respectively) would be good too. No link as nsfw.

Gothic framed windows with partially opaque stained glass- that can double up as full head covering masks or background items.

We still don't have enough masks that are pushed up onto the head.

And we also still don't have a lot of alternative limb poses, are there even any in Steamworks at all? Aside from the old ones that covered the limbs before the hiding feature was introduced. I had a suggestion last year about having arms holding masks as if they have just been removed, to go with the aspect of a masked dance partner revealing themself.

I'd love to see books about different kinds of dances. There's this dancing competition show that I like to watch where they do various types of dances, which is what inspired that idea.

I'd love to see more rift/darkmatter/space themed foods and drinks.

Some amorphous Rift body parts would be great, something that would go well with the:

Satellites, radios, podcast and livestream equipment so those who can't make it to Atebus can still catch live music and event gossip coverage.

I second 's idea for masks pushed up on the head and also request ones pulled to the side or held. Like this one or even without the stick.

This year I would be really excited to see these ideas brought to life in shops near me like the Lounge or Menagerie.

A blub in the Libertine Lounge

Counters, bars, shelves, bar stools, basically indoor decor and settings to create the Libertine Lounge. These items inspired my idea.

Decor for a fancy ball Art Deco or Art Nouveau inspired interiors and decor Fashions of the twenties. We had some in the New Years shop but I would really love more styles, more colors. Dancing poses, drinking and eating poses, and cheering poses. I know the new poses that allow us to remove limbs are popular but the older style that just covered limbs allows me to use them with all the skins.

Food -individual trifles in a wine or martini glass Chocolate Strawberry, Lemon Blueberry, Pistachio Fig, Peach Cookie, Raspberry Mint -crepes all the crepes so many crepes sweet crepes (strawberry mandarin, raspberry fig, black cherry peach, lemon blueberry, mint chocolate Oreo, lemon curd, banana rum, coffee mascarpone, and various ice creams) and savory (smoked salmon and brie, crab with lemon aioli sauce, turkey pesto, spinach and mushroom, Gorgonzola with figs, ham and walnuts) -Mocktails there is only one on the site and I would love to see more not picky which ones just love creative drinks. Maybe something familiar or ones I'm unfamiliar with like a Dark n' Stormy, Hot Not Toddy, Sundowner, Sweet Sunrise, Mermaid Refresher, Salted Meyer Lemon and Sage or a regional drink from Subeta.

Everything that said! I'd love to see some lounge or even dancefloor backgrounds (maybe with some people in there). Really everything in that post, I want!

Love s idea of the pushed up mask. Maybe some flushed cheeks from all the dancing?

And I'd love see more dancing legs (and arms) for our HA.

a wind-up key for the HA like the yunium key (maybe that already exists and i just can't find it?). ideally in several different metals.

a hand pose reaching up to the mask/with one hand on it. doesn't even need a new bespoke mask, just has to be placed near the edge of the HA face the right way.

bloomers! longer, more traditionally steampunk bloomers, but also maybe rave-appropriate bloomers in neon colors for lower ziarans looking to scandalize. there ARE a few bloomers on site already, but a significant chunk of them are in very similar shades or just aren't super distinct from normal shorts. (i couldn't find any truly neon bloomers, but i tried to get close.) i mean something similar to or but with ruffles and big cuffs (or belts and buckles and whatnot). we have a lot of corsets, but not a lot of frilly undergarments to match.

also seconding @/Nomi_Barei's requests for chatelaines, body stockings, chunky platforms and gothic windows as well as @/Eitleoidhme's for mocktails and bar-style HA items.

Since we're getting a lot of Lurbys and Long Lurbys, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some here as well, with a Rift or Rave style, or both.

I'd just really like more neon or cyberpunk themed shoes, especially ones matching existing items

More blatently surreal items please, idk just throwing more ideas for this out here on this:

A single leg mod that is a spiral staircase.

A torso cavity with a candle or a cocktail or something in it.

Belts/peplums that are giant pelvic bones, maybe with some bejewelled or gilded in that old catholic style. (A plain one would REALLY help with my Harrow cosplay but that might be a better suggestion for Survival tbh)

A big nazar/evil eye that can be worn as a mask. (A Nazar as a minion would be lovely too!)

Lense flairs.

Pauldrons with tentacles, that can also be used as arm mods if the arms are turned off.

Neon spikes, crystal clusters and metal lattice scaffolding beams as full limb covering/replacing jewellery.

Also seconding Ossuary's bloomers, some slightly puffier about the hips, recolours of would be really fun to play with!

If the cats and doll from the zombie skin aren't included as wearables, hoo will I be disappointed! They made the droids wearable, so here's hoping they'll continue the tradition.

Glitch colored official items. Maybe some HA foreground/background displays that give you the noise, standby broadcast, lines in tapes/glitch lines to make it seem like your HA is glitching

I'd also personally like more Akira reference items than the few we do have but I understand that's up to the artists

I appreciate that they expanded the colour options of these: [Item=Lime Skelly Jelly Chew][Item=Lime Belly Jelly Shot] Unfortunately I'm greedy and want more. Black, gray, brown, and tan would be nice additions. Pastel variants would also be appreciated. If that's not feasible then more matching accessories like these: Horns, ears, and tails that match the Skelly aesthetic would be nice.

I agree with all of this! I really love the fascinator-style masks or the Japanese ones worn on the side of the head. They add so much to outfits without covering the face and sometimes that's all you need! I really liked the ones from Moro and I'd like to see more like them but more whimsical and elegant.

Always down for more body mods! Not just prosthetics but different arm and leg poses. But if we do that, some clothes that work both with the mods and original base would be nice.

Could we get some more steampunk backdrops? I know cyberpunk stuff can get distracting with all of the pretty colors and steampunk is a lot of brown but the last steam backdrops/foregrounds have been things like pipes and wires when there's so much more to it than that. Howl's Moving Castle could be considered SP but it has gorgeous, colorful environments. Video games like Final Fantasy 9, Baten Kaitos and Skies of Arcadia would also have great inspiration.

I love them and it's a shame we don't have more non-cws. I guess they can be hard to incorporate, especially if you want your HA to ride it. I tried to suggest carousel-themed clothes for Vesnli and I hope they use them for Masq. Imagine a gown shaped and decorated like one!
