the vice article about it: Scientists Discovered Strange ‘Entities’ Called ‘Obelisks’ In Our Bodies. Their Purpose Is a Mystery.
scientists discovered a new "entity" called "obelisks" that live in our bodies and know one knows why they are there? so mysterious, so ominous. I love it. they also create a protein called "oblins" and we don't know why they do that either.
they're along the same lines as viruses and viroids, in that it's debatable if they check off all the boxes for being considered alive. I guess that's also probably why they're calling these things entities instead of organisms.
the world is weird, and we know nothing. I've been thinking about the obelisks all day.
Oh MAN that is so insanely cool. They picked a world-class name for them, too - like something out of a sci-fi novel. Wonder how well it'll hold up under peer review...

yeah, the peer review is a very good point, because this news is all very recent. as we learn more we might learn that this is all nothing. but for now we live in a world where our bodies are full of mysterious entities called obelisks, and I think that is just rad.
I hope they turn out to be even weirder than we expect them to be. <3

The world as we know it changes by the day and it's kinda wild. I'm eager to see where this research leads.
I know you posed this a few weeks ago but THANK YOU for this? I never heard about this until now! This is so fascinating~
As if the human body could NOT get any weirder from floating bones in our throats to keep the structure to mystery organs that hold onto our weird guts. Let's see how this goes! XD
