I have made a ticket earlier for staff regarding this issue and was instructed to try posting here:

I'm having some difficulty changing my username back to its original username: Carnation. I have checked the current owner's account on: https://subeta.net/users/Carnation

Which shows that the name should be theoretically available to claim as the following is written on the account: "This account will be eligible for clearing on 09/27/22 at 3:00 pm. Please note: Due to a glitch, it may clear one day early or late."

Unfortunately, I'm met with the following when I try to change my username: "Oh No! This username is not available."

I saw this mentioned before, so the problem has persisted for some time. If it were me, I'd create a ticket to see if they could manually clear the name for you. Especially since it was taken from you previously. Good luck!

I'm having the same exact issue with a UN I've been watching for one year. [User=Tree]

I filed a ticket and was told nothing can be done right now and to post on this board as well.

At least it was not my original UN like your situation. But I still have been hoping to change mine to Tree even prior to this person creating the account.

The one thing I notice with both accounts is that they're kind of "ghost" accounts; they have no pets, no posts, etc. Someone just created them, then bounced.

FYI: I changed my UN to in case anyone wishes to reply.

I want to change my username to one belonging to an inactive account, and the name was meant to have cleared on 2nd May this year. In fact, it's the same name that wanted to change to, so I guess I'll have to think of a different name anyway? But I can't think of another name I'd like that isn't being used by an active account... Well, it looks like it won't be fixed for a while anyway.

I'm sorry you're going through the same. I doubt it'll clear anytime soon, as Carnation's was supposed to clear nearly two years ago.

I looked at maybe 40-50 names to find one I really liked that was available. If you have a theme you're going for, you could google it. I searched for "nature words," "synonyms for tree," etc. Hopefully you'll find something else you like.

I mainly just want a name that relates to something I like, but also doesn't feel restricted when it comes to making HAs. For example, if I were to change my name to "Bluebell" (which has cleared), I would feel like I have to be limited to making my HA use blue or purple somewhere. And if I were to change my name to "Moorhen" which I think isn't taken, I would feel like I wouldn't be able to make any animal-related HAs unless it was birds. Same with any other animals. I'm just weird like that.

EDIT: I found a very simple solution to my username problem that I don't know why I didn't think of before: Just put an S on the end and make it a plural!!! The name was free, thankfully.

Just wrote in a ticket about this same issue with an account that was supposed to clear and go inactive yesterday () and was told to come and add the report here, so it is unfortunately still an ongoing problem. ☹️ Was really looking forward to it, too. 😢

I hope that it is fixed soon, since I have already spent a token to change my username, and I am still not able to change it due to this glitch.

To the programmers resolving this issue, thank you for taking the time to fix this. We appreciate it, and hope to get a solution to this known issue soon.

Chiming in to report the issue is still happening for an account that was supposed to clear on June 26th.

I hope Subeta can get this issue fixed soon.
