I'm so jazzed this remake finally released especially since I NEVER expected them to revamp this particular Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons entry!

Anyone else a fan of Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons or farming sims in general? A Wonderful Life/Another Wonderful Life are my favorite Harvest Moon games of all time, and I can't help but gush over the new game. I just wish I could dig into the code and change everyone's names back to what they were in the first games. Changing Marlin to Matthew put me off because it's my exe's name 💀

I've been playing this game at a really slow pace, but boy am I excited that they decided to remake this one! I have so many memories of playing A Wonderful Life with my brother and sister when we were younger and this is all we're talking about right now.

I honestly didn't get into Harvest Moon a lot outside of A Wonderful Life, but this game has me wanting to go and try some more out!

I've always loved farming sims but this one is top tier for me and holds a special place in my heart. So many days spent after school in the basement playing for hours! I also remember being confused in the beginning and getting lost because it got dark at night in the game (Tv was old and colors and brightness probably needed adjusting too). These days I know the exact location of every foragable item, where people usually go, their likes and dislikes, and all that stuff. It warms my heart hearing that they seem to have reused a lot of sound assets from the first games too! The sheep, the wind in the mountain path and nature sounds.

The only change I really dislike is the voice clip change for mukumuku 💀 if you haven't heard it, I guess you're prepared lol

And if you haven't gotten to chapter 2 the children are PRECIOUS! :')

I'm just about to start Year 2! I haven't been able to put it down the past few days haha

I can't stop either! I know Nami wants her child to explore the world, but I'll try my darndest to make them love the farm 😤

I'm doing the same! I always went with Nami as a kid and that hasn't changed.

Honestly, I always went with Celia in the past because she's just so sweet and the whole farming background makes too much sense. as an adult I see how interesting and thoughtful she is as a person. I will say however I had an inexplicable crush on her that I didn't quite understand at the time lmao. The things you start to pick up on that shouted loud and clear you're gay or bi as a kid that you had no clue about lol

Honestly lol I feel like I'm actually gonna go back and play again and go with a different partner, but I'm really hoping I don't burn myself out before then.

Game burnout is so real when getting a new game and I wish it wasn't. Gotta maintain self control and not binge the game and try to do other things instead.

this is my second entry to the Story of Seasons game. I'm enjoying it more than Pioneers of Olive Town.

That's wonderful! They really did drop the ball with pioneers of olive town and I wish I could figure out what specifically is making it lack in charm compared to many of the older titles that used the 3d models without character art. One thing may be some degree of inconsistency in the style of the characters. Its kinda subtle between some of them though. The MC's head being huge also bugs heck out of me.

Gosh I probably put hundreds and hundreds of hours in AWL as a kid. I wanted to see all the hearts events, and so I did. Shout out to every eligible bachelorette in that game for inspiring such ridiculous crushes in me that my parents sat me down to ask if I was gay as an 8 year old (and they were right so.) I'm not gonna lie though. I'm like a little heartbroken that Gustafa looks so extremely different, of the men, that was my guy. I see they also yoinked Carter as a bachelor which was...wise, probably, given his age. I was also crossing my fingers they'd migrate Skye over from the DS games, but oh well.

I wonder why they didn't bother throwing in flora rather than having Lumina as a bachelorette. Lumina always struck me as being a touch too young imo for being added as a marriage candidate. I feel like it especially wouldn't be a stretch given they revamped "Cody" to be able to be married. She would make more sense for having a more scholarly child than Nami as well. Plus, I think having a rivalry with Daryl would be hysterical.

I was so sad to see Florda wasn't brought in! I remember getting HM AWL SE when they introduced Lumina as a marriage candidate and thinking. "Man, I wish they made Flora a bachelorette, Lumina is like a child!" (I said, as a child, and then got HM DS to rectify this). So that's kinda unfortunate!

Personally, I ADORE the game, but my opinion is a little biased due to nostalgia given its basically A wonderful life/another wonderful life with a REAL good polish and some QOL improvements. Some complain about its pacing and parallel to real life and its overall simplicity which are all things I generally enjoy about it. You'll basically live the entire life of your character and get older as you watch your child grow up. The dialogue is a touch limited but a bit expanded in this version than the originals anyway with more cutscenes and goals to achieve in this than the original.

If you like a relaxing, wholesome and slow-paced game than you'll probably like it. I must warn that there are some bittersweet moments in this, and it does you well to befriend everyone in the village.

Many of the ratings being low makes me sad because comparing this game to the most recent installments of SOS doesn't really work given this is a remake of a past title so of course its limited to an extent as they mostly stayed true to the original and I appreciate that given its my favorite.
