I am obsessed with the indie game Stardew Valley. I have put SO MANY HOURS into the game. I started playing it on Switch, did MANY play-throughs, hit perfection, then got a Steamdeck and hit perfection again. I couldn't even tell you how many hours I have actually played the game; somewhere in the thousands. I am making a Stardew themed gallery right now called Welcome to Pelican Town.

Anyone else play Stardew Valley?

I collectively have 1000+ hours no question. I also bought the game on both steam and my switch XD

The switch version is so convenient but the lack of modding for the switch makes me sad :') I love all the pretty cosmetic mods and the QOL ones that notify when animals need pets or can be milked. I had one that tweaked some of the animal designs as well.

I’m way impressed by your gallery organization. It looks amazing. I want to say I have like 300 hours? I haven’t played much since Ginger Island came out but I’ve been getting the urge to revisit it.

I kind of want to do a soap opera playthrough where I romance and divorce everyone in town but I’d probably feel bad rofl.

It hurt me enough to get every romance cutscene with every bachelor and bachelorette before getting married in story of seasons friends of mineral town. :') The things I do for videogame achievements.

I would happily be a thief and murderer with ambiguous morals in a game but got forbid I play with someone's heart. Thats just going too far now.

oh I know, in LA Noire I’ll drive on the sidewalk and steal cars but something just feels extra mean about giving a nice little sprite person divorce papers. :x

What bachelor/bachelorette do you guys usually go for? Most saves I go with Harvey because he seems closest to my actual age but on my current one I’m platonic roomies with Krobus lol.

Oh man... always Shane. It's too irl familiar the whole circumstance with him. A little similar to my SO without the whole life ruining levels of drinking. Just potentially life ruining levels of depression and anxiety. We're working through it though.

Shane is so relatable. ConcernedApe did a good job on everyone but his story in particular was touching. I hope everything goes well for you guys. It helps sometimes to see yourself mirrored in fiction, especially with a happy ending. (How cute are the blue chickens?)

Lol the struggle of putting any game down for an extended period of time XD As a kid I remember resetting my games so often because I had no idea what was going on. I need a videogame notebook to keep track of things or something.

I played a game that would full on recap what you’d done previously when you started it… I wish more developers would add that as an option. Funnily enough I can’t even remember what game it was. xD A notebook is a good idea.

I know a few of the old Pokemon games actually had that function. The only ones I know with certainty are Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

It really is a nice function to have even if its just the immediate last thing done since at the very least it may jog your memory a bit.

according to steam i have 606.9 hours in stardew valley, though apparently i haven't played in exactly 2 years to the day! i'm sure if i let myself start up again i would be sucked in once more, though it would probably take me a while to get back into the swing of things. i remember being pretty proud of my most recent farm, though it was still a bit of a work in progress. i was watching honeywell's sdv playthrough at the time, so i was very inspired by her strategies and decoration ideas.

when it comes to romance... on my first playthrough i was torn between penny and maru, but ended up marrying maru. on my other saves i've pursued abigail and leah, but i don't think i've actually married either of them. i kind of prefer having my farmer live alone while her girlfriend lives her own life. sort of makes me wish there was more of a relationship mechanic to actually differentiate dating as its own discrete stage—maybe i don't want to rip leah away from her beautiful lakeside cabin, but i still want to do things that reinforce that we're together!

, your farm looks really nice! Is that the woodland/forest layout? I always want to use one of the special farm layouts but when I’m actually starting the save I chicken out and just use the default.

I married Leah in one save, I loved her art room and her sculpting space outside. Romances/friendships that could take different paths would be really interesting. It’d be cool to hang out with the villagers outside of heart events— like if you’re dating Leah you can go to her house for an art date and play a minigame.

So when I actually launched my current save which is at 90-ish hours the farm was bare… just a coop, barn, shed, silo, and Junimo hut. I was like wtf did I spend 90 hours on? And then I opened the relationship menu and everyone is maxed out and like five people have bouquets. So I guess my farmer has been busy in other ways.

I’m at the stage where I’m selling truffle oil/ancient fruit wine so I should start decorating but idk what I want. x_x Maybe a spooky forest area.

thanks! yeah, it's the forest layout. i also want to try other layouts for sure! i suppose once you've played the game for hundreds of hours it only makes sense to experiment with different challenges—though idk if i'll ever have the heart for a joja playthrough!

i recently booted up stardew valley after stepping away from it for a while and my goodness, theres a lot of things that need doing on the farm. from watering greenhouse crops to tending to animals to refillling kegs and stuff, there frankly wasnt much time for anything else. imagine my surprise when i found out i can host multiplayer on my singleplayer farm

I love Stardew. I play on PC and PS4 at the moment, but I'm getting it for the switch soon also so I can play online with a friend. Also, did you see that there's work being made on a new game like Stardew? It's called The Haunted Chocolatier
