I went with Nis Puk the House Pixie, because I've always loved the idea of magical beings that live in our houses. I imagined this as she has her own tiny room somewhere hidden in a house.

EDIT: Okay just for fun I decided to make a second one closer to the actual Nis Puk.

Pidder Lüng the Freedom Fighter I hope this wiki is accurate

Reasoning The tale is something I can agree with even though it has a sad bitter ending. I'd rather fight and die to be free than live as an indentured servant under fools and tyrants. After all, life is far too short to waste it living under a boot.

To be honest, I couldn't find the ones I tried to look up, so I just gave up and let my imagination go! LOL I picked Teunis the Treasure Hunting Pirate because I love building pirates in the wardrobe. I think he's especially dashing, and the thrashing ocean in the background reminded me of the pictures of Slyt that I saw. Outfit Not Found

- Are these myths that we can find somewhere to reference? Or should we just create something based on what you've given us?

Ekke Nekkepenn the Merman

I chose this myth because it was the only one I could find information on and I thought it would be fun to work with a male HA for a change. I also made two HAs since in his story he is a merman and then changes forms to become a sailor.

I went with Tipken the Giant. I did find a reference to a mound where he was buried and a poem about giants using bow and arrows to protect locals. So with those small clues I came up with this. by Lypsyl

My version of Nis Puk the House Pixie. I lived in Germany for 4 years and I don't remember learning or hearing about this pixie before. There is a few references, but not a lot to go on though.

Nis Puk is a legendary figure found in the north of Germany mostly. :-) He has red-brownish, shaggy hair big eyes and a friendly smile. He loves his red socks, his pointed cap and the pullover his family has knitted for him. When the home owners are good people, the friendly Nis Puk looks after family, house and animals and keeps them safe. Kids can see him but adults not anymore. He lives either in the attic of the house or in a nearby barn. Sometimes when the family is very busy, he helps to clean the house at night. Some days though, he behaves like a little kobold and joshes around with the children. At Christmas, the family has to gift the little one a bowl of porridge with butter or red berry compote with cream or chocolate. Should the family forget this, Nis Puk leaves and searches another family he starts to protect then. If you want to attract a Nis Puk, you have to cook a good porridge with a lot of butter and when he likes it, perhaps he decides to move in and protects your family and gives his magic touch so that life goes smoothly from then on for all the beings he shelters.

The legendary Giant Tipken, a Käämper, warned the Sylt people should intruders try to cross the border because he could see so far, being big like a lighthouse, standing in the Keitum meadow close to the watt. And it is right, the giants fought with their bows to help the humans against intruders. The people loved him and after he died, they made a Tipkenhoog for him, a special gravesite which has a path under the earth and is situated like a chamber. You can visit such old sepulchers here on Sylt, there are several intact ones left. The Sylt people say you can sometimes hear his ghost laugh when people come to haunt for treasures in the grave area and that scares them away all the time.

There is not so much known about Maren Taken but that she was a very skilled witch. She lived in the dunes of Hörnum in the south of Sylt and she was very beautiful so that many of the older and yellow-toothed hagard witches were jelly. However, they all celebrated the full moon together until the dawn arrived every month, with wild dances and a lot of fun. Maren often stand at the top of the biggest dune, evocating storms which caused havoc at land. Sometimes she took on the figure of a swan and accompied the ships going out.

Totally accurate. There is a Sylt saying "Lever duad as Slav" (Better dead than slave!) which they go by until today. Half of the island was once in the hands of Danmark and the Sylt people back then didn’t like it because of the high interests they had to pay. Pidder Lüng is not a historical person but a story by Christian Peter Hansen who gave the Sylt freedom fighters a voice. He was said to have rebelled against a Dansk bailiff, or, sticking to the truth, he damped him into a bowl of hot kale, a traditional dish of the island. He then fled and henceforth, made a living by being a pirate. He went to the gallows for both of these some years later but until then, he lived a free and blooming live.

Captain Teunis came from a family of Greenland whale hunters which was a common profession back then in Sylt (alas). They left each year after Biike which is in February after a big fire feast and returned not before several months later - or nevermore. It was a dangerous profession and the ships were much more smaller than nowadays. There is still a farm on Sylt which is in the hands of this very family, today in there are appartments for tourists. This special legandary Teunis was a great pirate who hunted down several treasures and he was a little bit like Dagobert Duck, he liked to look at his riches and be joyful. He found an old grave hill near Kampen called Brödihoog and he hid all his treasures there and his two sons stuck to this tradition. The treasures of the Brödihoog are unfound until today because it is said that the ghost of Captain Teunis scares all visitors away whilst groaning and moaning loudly and evoking thick wafts of mist which leads all treasure hunters away.

There are many houses here named after Ekke Nekkepenn, he is a well loved mythical character on the island. He is a merman who lives together with his wife Rahn at the ground of the North Sea and they both played tricks with the sailors and the inhabitants of the island. I think you read the story in Wikipedia perhaps by Christian Peter Hansen which tells the stories of him leaving his old wife and looking for a new younger and more beautiful one, Inge Rantum, who refused to be his bride even when being gifted silver and gold. Early feminism and women solidarity, yeah! :-)

The story of the beautiful Doris Bundis is a little bit like the one of Inge Rantum. The king of the merfolk named Ögis swam to the coast and saw the beautiful Doris Bundis bathing and combing her long golden hair. He instantly fell in love with her but she was already betrothed and loved her future husband very much so she refused his offer to make her his queen. There is still a small street leading to the sea named Bundiswung after the gorgeous Doris.
