Trying to add a youtube short video to one of my pet's profiles and the code doesn't seem to be working. I've just copied the code that youtube creates to allow for embedded videos.

What special thing needs to be done to allow embedded videos, if that's even possible?

Embedding videos is not an option for pet profiles. I don't know specifics but for safety reasons it is coded to not accept these types of codes.
