I've been really stressed out these past few weeks about waiting to hear back on whether or not I was accepted into grad school and I finally got confirmation from my mentor that I did!!! I'm just really excited and wanted to share it somewhere ^u^
Vey to go! Mine have only inklings of what grad school iz, or even what it takes to get accepted.
You should be thrilled to share, mine look forward to completing mine own continued education.
WELL DONE!! That's amazing, you should be super proud!! <3
Also, I love the sylveon drawing!!
congratulations !! applying for school is always nerve-wracking ^^; i hope you treat yourself to something fun to celebrate !
Congrats! Having done the applications myself and repeatedly failed( three times applying to PhD, and that’s with 2 masters) I’m always happy for those who get in. :D.
Oops, pinged the wrong person, XD.
I'm sorry to hear that. I was definitely preparing to not get in, assuming the worst. Hopefully you can find a program and mentor who sees your talent and hardwork and recognizes your worth :)
congrats! I am applying for my internship and it isn't easy! What are you going to school for, if I may ask?
behavioral ecology working with fish! ^^ I'll likely either be working on the cooperatively breeding daffodil cichlid, where groups consist of a single mating pair and then subordinates that all take care of the mating pairs offspring, or the breeding behaviors of the fantail darter, where males will create a nest and females will lay their eggs in the nest; the more eggs a male has the more attractive he is to females, so there seems to be an incentive for males to steal already fertilized eggs from other nests to make his nest look better. They even have something called dummy eggs; there are little balls on the top of their 1st dorsal fin that resemble eggs!
It's really interesting!!! My mentor is really good at all the modeling that comes with studying behavioral ecology which is why I chose to work with him. I'm hoping to use this master's as a stepping stone to work with the model organism I'm really interested in, which is sharks. There's a scientist in Florida that has done work with blacktip reef sharks and gray reef sharks whose work I'm really interested in and hope to maybe get a PhD or at least the opportunity to work with him at some point in the future.
I actually had no idea that behavioral ecology existed! That's actually really cool, and thank you for explaining it to me!
That actually sounds like a super fun job. And just keep being pushy and try reaching out to him! You may be able to even meet him before you get the PhD!
Like my mom always told me, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." Not sure who actually said it, however.
