You see the list, see the people you've been blocked by, and then instantly start wondering what did you do wrong and try to ask that on the forums, try DMing the users, and everything.

it used to show when you blocked users!! it used to sent then a notification. that was 💀 now more so its a way of bein able to block in peace (maybe mutual) or just sometimes folk dont like you for who you are. idk i have a lot of people blocking me, doesnt bother me bc at the end of the day its a pet site so it's no skin off my back best not to worry about it tbh this site was made by a 15 y/o in the early 2000s, a lot of those old design decisions are still there, its what lends the site its charm in a way. i'm hella confused at the folk who have blocked me, but if not seeing me makes their subeta experience better then power to em, i guess! don't read too much into it, it used to be worse, and honestly its not worth the trouble.

The list is there because it's actually against the rules to try and contact someone who has you blocked. I believe most forms of contact won't let you accidentally break that rule, like if you try to go to their profile, it'll tell you they have you blocked for instance. But the list is there for a backup so you know who to stay away from. I think that's also the reason it used to send an alert when you got blocked.

I wouldn't stress too much about why anyone has you blocked though. Like abel said, it can be for whatever petty reason someone wants. All you can do is try not to take it personally.

"Your account was BANNED because it tried to contact people who blocked you." just doesn't have the same ring as things like "Your account was BANNED because it used cheats, scripts, bots and/or exploits."

You can seriously get banned for that?

i don't think anyone would get instabanned just for trying to contact someone who has blocked them, you would probably just get a warning (likely verbal, at least for the first offense) nonetheless it is a rule, and your account getting banned for breaking rules repeatedly is not that weird lol

You can read the full rule here. Trying to contact someone who has you blocked won't lead to an instant ban, but if you keep doing it, then it becomes harassment and you'll get a warning.

It does suck when a user you've never even talked to blocks you, but the rule needs to be there to protect users who have been targeted with harassment.

If someone blocks you (general you here, not you specifically), it isn't a personal attack. It's just that user saying they don't want to interact with you for one reason or another. It's best to just respect their wishes and move on.

I feel like blocking should work both ways like it does on some other websites, where it instantly blocks them back. I always get anxiety over my block list and keep occasionally looking back at it just to make sure it hasn't grown, and if it has, like OP said, I can't help but wonder what I did wrong. It feels like such a betrayal at times when a user blocks me who I thought was alright with me previously. If it worked both ways and if there wasn't a list where we had to block them back ourselves, then instead I would just never hear from that person again and probably forget about them and therefore wouldn't try to contact them or anything and end up met with a "this user has blocked you" message. But with the way the site's coding works, that would probably require a lot of work to overhaul the whole blocking system.

I've been blocked for (presumably, since it was my only recent "interaction" with the person at the time) posting a gif in response to a post that the poster didn't like (so I definitely wouldn't worry about reasons why someone might block you). This isn't someone I had ever had an argument or issue with previously to my knowledge, so I would've had no way to know they had blocked me without the list.

While I don't think it's explicitly against the rules to post on threads someone who's blocked you have made, pinging them directly would be (if it even goes through) and responding to one of their comments or if they're the original poster seems like kind of a grey area IMO so I feel better knowing which users to just steer clear of entirely. But I don't typically bother to block people back because I don't want to get locked out of reading threads in case there's a bug or suggestion or question that I want to see any answers/replies to. I don't think blocking the other party automatically is helpful for those reasons, especially with how generally dead the forums tend to be...

I wouldn’t feel too worried about it. There were some people that were block happy for a time and just blocked people with zero interaction (possibly just to cause annoyance). If they have you blocked though you aren’t supposed to find other ways to contact them. Some ridiculous person blocked me ages ago and it was a blessing honestly. Not interacting with them all these years has likely improved my gameplay.

I've been blocked by others for having a debate with their friends... they weren't even involved, just watching from the sides and blocked me 🤷‍♀️ what's funnier is me and the user(s) having the debate on whatever topic became friendly because we WEREN'T arguing, just discussing our POV. Its no skin to me why people block others, times and people change and the user can choose to unblock you just like you can choose to unblock them. Some reasons are warranted for sure. But its best to not seek out the reason. The ONLY thing I wish would change is the username stays updated to when they change their UN. I know some of the ones who blocked me changed their names but its not updated.

At this point I don't mind the list because I know who to avoid. I've had people block me for the weirdest reasons (mainly being called out on forums for being rude or spamming posts) and it makes me laugh now.

Half the people on that list no longer exist anyway.

LOL this is truly a bit unhinged, but I don't mind it. I have never had an issue with another user here but I've blocked people simply because they're annoying :D now they know. That's hilarious.

, they do update now, I only have two on mine and unless one person unblocked me and an entirely new person blocked me around the same time, I'm fairly certain they do. They may be on a timer or something though, idk.

I'm reasonably sure one blocked me for trading their cw when I had just asked for an invite, but that was because I somehow missed un-wishlisting it when I bought it, then I saw it in a secondhand shop and pounced because I thought I didn't own it because it was wishlisted, but then I found I DID own it and had no use for a second one...

I like it - i'm spiteful and i like to block them right back :p. Gives me a chuckle
