Hello! I've been a casual battler in the past but in the last year I've started to train my pet more and actually try to get secret challengers and make a better weapon set.
My problem is, I have no idea where to start with scrolls. I currently have a Ruby Heaven scroll equipped onto a tier 11 pet that I'm sure I attached to him a decade ago on a whim somehow. I have read THESOVEREIGN's scroll guide and while helpful, it reads like it's for people who at least have SOME experience with scrolls and I have none. x.x It refers to 'mid range', 'endgame', etc and I honestly don't know how my pet would be considered?? I want to buy the Shriek of Despair because on the freezing section of the guide it pretty much said they were all the same (except I guess whirlpool is bad?) and that's the cheapest.
Please help with my very embarrassing and stupid question. I literally don't even know where to begin other than buying a shriek of despair. THESOVEREIGN's guide seemed to mention needing AP, and I can see that my battler has 90 AP on the pet page.

Please don’t feel embarrassed! This forum is for help and we’re happy to give it :)
By endgame we mean these are the things you want to collect over your battling career. Once you’ve capped your pet, and pretty much collected all of the weapons and scrolls to have anything you might need at your disposal, you’ve reached the endgame!
Scrolls are really only limited by your AP and your budget. They aren’t limited to tiers like weapons so you can equip any scroll to any pet, given they have enough AP to use it.
You want to have at least one scroll with infinite use that can heal you each turn (like Aftershocks). The rest can be dependent on your opponent. For instance, if the opponent has freezing disabled, it’s not typically a good idea to bring in freezing scrolls (like Shriek of Despair) because they will have little effect. In that case it is better to bring in an attacking scroll (Morosbane or Lucky), healing scroll (Gift of the Forj), or defensive scroll (Cobalt Eternal or Sancturia Exodin). It’s up to you and however you personally like to strategize.
Since you asked about freezing scrolls specifically, Shriek of Despair is the most recommended one. It has an 85% freeze rate. Strong Stomp also has an 85% freeze rate, but will take a bit more of your health each time you use it. Psycho Smasher has 75% and Cold Blast has a 65% chance to freeze. I’m not sure of the exact freezing rate for Perilous Whirlpool, but it is fairly low. Here is a list of all freezing scrolls if you want to compare them, but there is nothing wrong about buying a Shriek if you want. You don’t have to reach a certain level of experience to use it :)
[edit]For clarification it appears that defines early tiers at T1-4, mid-range tiers as T5-T9, and endgame tiers as T10-T13. You have a T11 pet so you’d be categorized in the endgame tiers. The categories are just to break down what would be most helpful for your pet at its tier. You don’t necessarily have to have the recommended weapons and scrolls, but they are goals.
Thank you for digging out that thread for me; it was very thorough and useful to read!
Thank you so much for your kindness and help! ;_; I was able to take what you were saying and combine it with THESOVEREIGN's topic to start getting a better scroll going. I just purchased a Morosbane, Cobalt Eternal, and Triple Threat, and will hopefully get a shriek soon. Can you "double dip" in scroll categories? Like you know how with weapons you are only allowed X number of freezers or stealers, etc? Can I have multiple of a 'type' of scroll on my pet during battle?
