When I was on Subeta a long while ago I was apart of this group that would post a daily low cost avatar item that you would the incorporate into your own avatar's outfit. You would then post it to the group's forum and get daily points that could be redeemed for prizes from the group's shop. I can't remember the name and I'm not even sure if this is still active.

Does anyone recognize this or, know of any groups similar to this idea?

I remember this as well. I would love doing something like that because I need some inspiration for my own HA. :)

Colovaria is the most active HA contest group that I know of currently.

The group you're thinking of was called Daily Item.

It still exists, but no longer does points or awards prizes. The group is: Daily Item 3.

Thank you all for responding! I did join daily item. I'm more into just trying new things with my HA than the prizes necessarily, we get so many wardrobe items I would hate for them to just sit there not being used :)
