Figured I should start a thread to mirror what I posted just now under the Snowtapult news post.

Considering the 30k achievement tier, there has to be a way to buy snowballs in bulk. As Magic has put below - this would take 42 solid hours to purchase with the 5 second rule.

You can only buy snowballs by clicking buy now, opening this in the same tab, and then pressing back and repeat. You cannot buy snowballs from refreshing the purchased page, or by shift+click to open multiple tabs. This process is laborious in itself.

There's a 5 second limit on throwing snowballs, so even if the purchase time is lowered/removed, you'd still encounter the 42 hours from actually throwing the snowballs.

I know it's something to work on rather than a 'get done quick' kinda achievement, but even so, this does seem excessive.

As a separate point - I understand some find issue with not being able to opt-out of snowballs being thrown at them, but I'm sure others can give a more nuanced argument than I on this.

I'm not so sure if the above math is correct:

30,000 restocks x 5 seconds each=150,000 seconds needed to obtain max snowballs.

150,000 seconds translates into 2,500 minutes.

2,500 minutes is 41.67 hours. So let's just say 42 hours.

This translates to less than 2 days total time needed to purchase every single snowball from the ground up. Most likely no one is sitting there for 2 days straight, but over the course of almost the entire winter season, it's probably doable to find the time to purchase quite a few snowballs towards that goal.

Will leave this up as think bulk buying would still be preferable to spending 42 hours on this. Or maybe this ties in with the wider issue of the 5 second limit.

Likewise for those that would like an opt-out feature.

Amber did lower the time limit this year, it’s one second (Edit: after trying to buy as fast as I could, I think it’s 3 seconds) or something. I’ve bought a few hundred so far, and I’ve only gotten the error message 3 or 4 times.

But bulk buying would be great. Even 10 or 25 at a time.

I've encountered the 5 second limit for throwing multiple times this year already unfortunately. But I'm fairly used to it from questing I suppose.

I don’t think she lowered the throwing time limit, just the buying one.

i'm sure the idea is not to reach that achievement all in one season! but since it's not a normal shop I don't see the downside to allowing bulk purchases, or maybe a box of 100 random ones you can open in your inventory to avoid too many duplicates of a single kind of snowball

I liked 's idea. A box of snowballs would be great. Or, at least, allow us to buy it by refreshing the page, instead of click - return - click - repeat. Such a tedious task , pff

Fully support a snowball box (though wouldn't this be better suited to the suggestions forum?) because rn it is too tedious for me to even bother. Plus since like people hate snowballs I don't wanna pick random and have someone be mad at me tbh

Would be great if we could sign up for like a snowball wars or something... maybe have a few teams and you can target a specific team and hit random people from that team and earn points. Would be a nice incentive. Otherwise I have zero desire to engage in snowballing anyone cause of potential drama and how long it takes to buy + throw snowballs.

For bulk - What about a Box of Snowballs added to the shop then you can open the box in your inventory and 10 pop out (or whatever doesn't break the site).

Now that definitely sounds an appealing option! I've been using the random option, but I'm always concerned that I'll end up snowballing someone who doesn't appreciate getting pelted with snow. Also, it saves the extra clicks of buying the snowballs (and stocking up our inventories) before going and pelting them :D

Petition to let us throw snowballs at Pete so he can take a break and get into a snowball fight.

You mean you couldn't throw them at NPCs before? That would make me more inclined to work towards the achievment because I don't want snowballs thrown at me but I'd be a hypocrite if I still threw them at other users. I don't know which NPCs I would choose, though. I can imagine most users would go after Shinwa X)

You're free to toss at me. LOL I've already got the achievement so I don't toss back and I don't care!

As for the rest of this - well the shop was originally set up to bulk buy, don't know why they ever changed it. Even with the bulk buy (can't remember if it was 5,10 or 25) it was still tedious buying all those snowballs.

I haven't tossed a snowball in years, can you still reload to toss a bunch of the same snowball, or has that also gotten more tedious?
