I posted this in the general complaint thread but I’m making a topic instead in case anybody else had this experience. :( I don’t know if this topic is too sensitive, so please don’t read if you want to possibly dampen your holiday spirit!

I’m a bit upset because this is the second Luminaire (previous was in 2020, I wasn’t online for it in 2021) where I get stiffed by posters during the gift user above threads… I only post in the very high sP gifting threads a few times (10 mil+), and each time the user I get literally didn’t get me anything at all. I didn’t complain last time because I didn’t want to seem ungrateful but damn.

I don’t know if items are being eaten by a glitch or something, because it would suck if they were actually gifting items and they didn’t show up. Especially cause I don’t want that to be the case for my gifts, either (which were absolutely 10m+, I gave CSC and a collection item). I know it could also be an honest mistake, but this is the second year that it happened which is why I’m posting about it. I’m not a very active player and this type of event is the only thing I look forward to so it’s pretty disappointing.

I am very very thankful to the people who did gift me items, though! And I’m pretty sure I didn’t have issues in the lower gift value threads, so I’m happy about that.

This happened to me too. It happens every year, so I don't think it's a glitch. I almost exclusively stick to the high sP gift threads to avoid this, and year after year I still get people sending me items below the guideline amounts or else not sending anything at all. I try to ignore it and focus on being generous / making other people happy. But when I spend over 250mil on presents each year, it makes me feel a bit T_T when people are breaking rules just to profit off of the kindness of others. It's scummy! You're not alone in feeling this way

Its quite unfortunate that people are miserly with regards to these threads because there's virtually no way to "enforce" gifting I wish there was a better system, or that people were better to each other.

I very MUCH dislike the Luminaire 'gift the tree above' threads. I didn't participate in them this year after the terrible experience I had the 2 years prior. I think it was 2 variation of 5mil and 20mil and every gift I got was like less then 3mil each. None of the gifts I got were equal to any of the values of the thread which I felt was super scummy because I couldn't afford an item that was above, i'd at least give a csc card to compensate the value. But of the 10 people who were supposed to give me a gift that was equal or over 20m? They either didn't gift me or gave me an item that didn't even equal 5m, it was a super shitty feeling.

Maybe I sound stingy because it's the holidays and I should 'appreciate getting something at all' but when a thread has a minimum requirement, I would HOPE every user would adhere to it and didn't see it as a free expensive gift opportunity. You know what I mean? I joined those threads to gift and expect to be gifted equally. :/

I wish they were reportable but you can't call something a scam when those threads never guarantee you'll get a gift out of it. It's solely user responsibility to uphold a promise which isn't punishable by the site. I can only recommended you block repeat offenders because I'm sure it's the same people who go on those threads looking for free stuff with nothing to give in return. It ruins the user experience imo, to the point I wish there was more moderation for it however, it's not possible to punish those offenders since by the time you realize you weren't gifted, Lumi is already over.

I've had this experience too. It's not too common, but it does happen. It happened to me this year even and I wasn't even very active on those types of threads. Honestly, I feel like I'm an overly generous person by nature and it just irks me when people take advantage of others. I know it may be petty, but I will straight block a user if I catch them doing this. I don't want anything to do with people that take advantage of others.

I've blocked more than a couple of people from those threads after they left nothing but garbage under my tree. Not even "cheap wishlist" stuff (which I have plenty of!) just random worthless items that were barely even worth fragging and a bunch of fairies.

(I've also blocked people for posting in Wishlist gifting threads when they have extremely small WLs consisting almost entirely of items costing 5m+. That's a whole other level of "taking advantage" right there.)
