i've been marathoning gens 3 through 5 lately and it's been fun! some games were more fun than i remembered and others were worse lmao so it's also been a good nostalgia trip

i was honestly surprised by how badly hgss held up. between seeing people to this day calling them the best pokemon games and the fact i absolutely adored them when they first came out........ i did not have a good time replaying soulsilver rip the pokemon availability is abysmal and the level curve is so whack that even if you get something you want to add to your team the grind is super off-putting, between the fact wild pokemon are like 15 levels lower than trainers and the slow ass gen 4 engine on the flipside firered has been a joy to replay?? like legit i'm having so much more fun than i thought it would lmao

i admittedly haven't gotten to replaying platium and black/white yet so maybe i do have some nostalgia to work through first, but at least for platinum i do still play it to this day because pokeradar shiny hunting is rly fun
