Who here enjoys horror movies? <3 even if you’re just a casual fan or a hardcore enthusiast.
My personal favourites: scream, black Christmas, Texas chainsaw massacre, return of the living dead, class of nuke ‘‘em high, Carrie, re-animator, bride of re-animator, the mask: rise of Lesley Vernon, dolls, child’s play, heathers (it’s technically black humour but gets lumped in with horror for some reason?), evil dead 1&2, an American werewolf in London, the thing, c.h.u.d, and soooooo many more
Tell me yours! Or even horror games, books, horror themed music, etc
You've got good taste in horror :D
You've got a few of my favourites in your list, but I'll add a few more that I especially like: Phantasm, Hellraiser, The Fly, Halloween (Season of the Witch will always be my favourite), Basket Case, Brain Damage, Trick 'r Treat -- and I'm just a sucker for horror anthologies in general. (Give me Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside, Tales from the Crypt, etc., any day.) I appreciate horror hosts and am a big fan of Joe Bob Briggs.
[edit]Oh hey! I just realized I wandered onto your profile the other day because I was amused by your shop name, and almost said hello. Hello!

Oh man I love SO MANY of the ones you’ve listed, fantastic taste <333
oh gosh haha, thank you!! Hello to you too
HELL YES HORROR MY FAVORITE GENRE
as of late though i tend toward horror-comedy/dark comedy tbh? REALLY fond of Murder Party by the same director who did Green Room and, though it's only ostensibly horror and also a Troma movie, Yeti: A Love Story. i never claimed to have good taste ok. also fond of Re-Animator/Bride of Re-Animator, NOPE (again only Kinda horror but god the horror was definitely horrifying), Get Out, various Stephen King movie adaptations (special shoutout to The Mist for traumatizing 13 year old Silas on his bday LMAO)...
some i really wanna see that i haven't include Us, Hereditary, Midsommar (despite Some Peoples' reactions to it)....
banner by Definitely favor the variety of slasher films like Friday the 13th, Halloween, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Jeepers Creepers, Nightmare on Elm Street. Lately I've been trying to go down more classical horror movies in line with FrakenStein, Night of Living Dead, and Dracula but with much failure haha.
Though recently movies like The Invisible Man (2020) and Old (2021) are pretty good. I'm not sure how most felt about it, but I thought they did some things that were really cool. Especially Invisible Man.
There's probably more but those are the immediate ones.
Okay, sooo... my mother dragged me into the horror section of our local Blockbuster when I was only six because she was tired of me renting the same movies over and over. :'D
Questionable parenting aside, it unlocked a love of horror for me. The Exorcist. Rosemary's Baby. The Omen (the 2006 remake can jump in a lake). Poltergeist. Slasher movies, like Friday the 13th & Nightmare on Elm Street. The Evil Dead trilogy. Carrie and the vast majority of Stephen King adaptations (again, the remake of Pet Sematary can go jump in a lake).
Growing up, we also had all of the Universal Monsters on VHS. I wish I knew what happened to those tapes, because they were wonderful and are extremely hard to come by these days.
I'm not a big fan of body horror (it's one of the only genres that squicks me out entirely), but The Thing is a classic.
An American Werewolf in London is a must-watch every October.
I haven't watched a lot of more modern stuff. I'm always down for suggestions.
I love horror films but I have gotten out of the habit of watching them very much after years of dating people who can't handle scary movies. Also now I find that I seldom have the time to sit down and watch an entire movie.
My favourite stand alone horror film is Carrie (the 70s one, not the most recent one. The made for TV one is okay given the budget but the ending is so dumb), and my favourite franchise is Final Destination. I would say 2 is the best, then 1 and 5 are about even, then 3, and 4 is easily the worst.
I recently watched Paranormal Activity 1-3 for the first time and enjoyed them, although I think 3 would have worked better as a stand alone movie in the same universe than a direct prequel.
I saw Crimes of the Future in the cinema and... I didn't dislike it but it was less frightening and more just bizarre. Kind of felt like if an artsy student film had a big studio budget. Maybe my mind wandered in the wrong place and I missed something important.

As my family aren't so into horror, I co-host weekly Spooky Sessions in a discord server, where we vote on which movie to watch each week and then watch as a group. It's fun to watch with others and chat about the movie in real time. We show some serious/interesting/story-driven films as well as some b-grade/found footage/slasher/pop culture flicks for fun.
Here's the funny thing. It's an Animal Crossing discord and our Spooky Squad has become the most active part of the server.
I like a lot of stuff, but I think some of my most enjoyed aspects of the genre are obscure but well-made found footage or creative sci fi horror.
I've become a pretty big horror fan. One of my favorites is probably It Follows, but then there are classics like The Thing and Alien. It's hard to find good horror movies nowadays that don't have annoying moments where you think "what are you doing?????? why is the protagonist being so stupid!?!?!?!?!??!"
I definitely am a big horror fan. I love to watch a lot of horror movies, especially on Tubi. My favorite horror ones are: My Bloody Valentine, Octogames, Polaroid, The Sand, Train to Busan (which is about zombies), The Escape Room, Dead Tone, When A Stranger Calls, Happy Death Day 1 &2, Children of the Corn, [u]Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street. I think that horror movies are the best!
