Hi!

To make it short I want a tucked in, tight dress shirt with rolled up sleeves... so I drew one (as best I could, my tablet being broken I had to do this with my touchpad) but I'm wondering if it's good enough or if it needs improvements.

Doesn't it seem odd?... if so, what could I edit? Is the drawing consistent with Subeta's artstyle? Are the shadows correct (lmaooo I HATE doing shadows)?

I'm open to criticism, be harsh if you must lol, I'd also like random tips and tricks to make a drawing as "Subeta" as possible.

Thanks in advance!

(For the moment I'm still thinking about its thumbnail...)

Hey there ! Looking good so far, buuuuuut it's really hard to see and critique things that are super dark (and similarly, super light). Black in particular can mask line thickness, alongside shading. White can mask shading but especially highlighting. So as far as I can see right now, my only personal critique is to post and submit a fairly mid-tone in color for feedback. That way flaws can be (hopefully) better seen and fixed, and it makes it less likely to be denied in future recolors.

Weeee thanks a lot for your input, ! I edited the original post, I made a purple version so we can see the tones better. I hope it's correct lol! In my opinion I don't think the shadows are correct and... soft enough? but I don't know how you guys do it. 🤔

I may or may not be using this purple on an item later on... Also my paint over isn't the best. So to preface a lot of this can be subjective, and can be done differently due to personal style etc. With the quick paint over I did I also have your (main) colors vs shading and highlight 'I would have done' to see where the high contrast seems to be coming from and they aren't that different except for the highlight (I like your shading colors and the high contrast highlight can work when done a specific way). I think what happened is you're following through with the deeper shade a lot, not doing enough of the first layer of shading, and a few oddly placed highlights. This is more evident on the bosom. Add some more of that first shading to the right (our right) side and to round off the boobs to give us some depth. Make sure to also follow the shading to under the boobs. The second shading can be more focused in areas like the shoulder/neck and in deeper creases/under boobs. The highlight should be focused more on the left and front areas, I struggle with my highlight layer because I hate doing it. If you wish to keep that highlighted line next to the shoulder seam, test out erasing the shading there and using the base as a faux highlight; it'll simmer the contrast down. Also, internal lines don't need to be black-black, they can be a super dark color. I hope some of this helps. You're doing a great job so far, you really are. Have fun, experiment, and don't be afraid to look at things on site to help see how others tackle these odd little chibis. Oh, and don't be afraid to get a denial or a hundred ;)
