I was walking my mom's dog in the bush (on harness) and another dog ran up to us (the dog was off leash) and attacked my moms dog. I'll spare the details of that (I'll never forget the sound) and I saved my mom's dog. I have punctures in my thumb and side of hand from being bitten.

I'm in shock even though it's been an hour. I don't feel like I'm on the planet. Mom went to the vet with her dog because she has punctures from the dog attack

I'm so tired.

When mine got mauled by a dog, mine was also in shock. The event itself is mostly 404 to recall, but mine siblings would tell me the police interview mit mineself was rather...insubstantial.

It is hard to forget the aftermath, this cur went for my face, tearing open my upper lip, the right side of mine nose, and several wounds along the right side of mine face. This did require reconstructive surguries, and a later rabies vaccination.

Believe me, you need to take steps against the owner. In mine case, the punishment came later that year. Not the way mine would want, the dog was run over as mine passed by that house.

Keep at it with any treatment, you would not want to lose the use of your hand.

Mine only regret about the injuries, and the treatment, was it never occurred to mine to take a photo of mineself. Mine have said before, that was the only time in mine life mine liked the reflection.

The vet said the dog is very lucky because I saved her.

I Went to the clinic. I'm on antibiotics and has x-rays of my hands to make due nothing is broken. Filled out an animal report form.

Mine hope you not have to undergo a vaccination, THOSE SUCK!

I asked about a rabies and the doctor said no. It'll be up to public health I guess. I'm also guessing I'll be getting a phone call tomorrow as the firm has been faxed to them.

Oh my gosh this sounds so horrific and traumatic. I’m sure you’re in pain, but I can imagine the shock of it will be the worst thing right now. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Well done for being brave and saving your mum’s dog; it’s a nightmare situation, but your instinct kicked in and got both you and the pup out of the situation. I know it’s awful, but the other dog is dangerous and could have some so much damage - please keep pushing to report him and his owner.

I hope you are doing well now? That is so incredibly scary. I worked professionally training dogs for about two and a half years, and I take pride in my well trained dogs... But one thing I learned is that sometimes, some dogs just cannot or will not be trained. It varies across many breeds, which I think is the scariest thing about people pinpointing one breed over another. They ALL have the potential to be just as dangerous.

I hope your mom's dog is doing okay, and that you've all been able to move forward!

Yes, I'm doing better. Have some numbness in my thumb when I touch it. My doctor said the dog probably bit a nerve. I was really lucky and so was my mom's dog. She sustained a some puncture wounds and so did I to my hands. It could've been much worse. The vet said my mom's dog got lucky because of me.

Things have been good. The dog is fine. She's a little scared when digs approach her head on or run to her, but that will take some time. She's not very socialized as she was my grandma's dog and lived in the bush for the first 2 years of the dog's life. Then she passed away and now my mom has her.

My thumb is better. I can fully bend it now. It's still feeling "weird" when I touch the bite under my thumb. It's the nerves. Dog probably bit it.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you have a speedy and safe recovery. But if you have nerve issues I recommend talking to your doctor asap. If it is something like that, you'll want to get on top of it so you don't develop problems-- trust me. I've had two nerve surgeries and it's bad. The pain, the weakness, even wind softly blowing hurt my arm.

If your doctor doesn't think it's anything to worry about, I'd still try to look up ot-- occupational therapy-- exercises and do some for that area when it's healed.

I wasn't attacked like that, but my friend's new dog saw me, ran up and bit under my forearm and I had puncture wounds, too. Cleaned it there but I was uncomfortable so I left and never went back. She wasn't a good friend or good person anyway.

But it hurt a lot, and I did get antibiotics as well. Still have a couple scars there.
