omg y'all i am SO burnt out at work (& life in general really). the pandemic is one thing, but it really feels like life just keeps throwing one thing after another.

i had a mental breakdown at work back in march & was given unpaid leave to use for times like that (which i am grateful for, tho that was a whole ordeal in itself getting my doctor to fill out forms and stuff). then i got really really sick for like two weeks (wasn't covid. no clue what it was. haven't been that sick in years.) and now my grandpa dies & it's dredging up a lot of bad memories of when my dad died that i never really processed so it's like i'm trying to process two deaths at once. so i've been in and out of work a LOT and it makes me feel so guilty for being so burnt out because my coworkers are there every day and i'm not.

i've just been trying to take it all one day at a time. trying to be more open about my feelings and burn out with my friends, family, and my coworkers. i'm grateful for having a support network & people who care about me, but damn do i feel like a burden yknow???

how have you guys been handling burn out? i know with everything going on in the world almost everyone is probably burnt out :( i could use some tips myself for handling it and learning how to relax

I've been really burnt out too. Fighting a custody battle for my kid while also a week away from homelessness. I don't have a support system, not a lot of family and friends. I manage it somehow, but honestly I don't know how.

But I guess the thing that helps is making sure I'm filling my free time with a variety of fun things to try to outweigh the bad. I'm always at the library looking for new video games and books, and you can check out more than just that too. Mine has things like fishing rods, exercise sets, Chromebooks (which I'm borrowing and using to type this post now), mobile hotspots, baking pans, Go Pros. Stuff like that. Even if my interest in a subject is fleeting, it's okay because I didn't pay for anything. A lot of libraries are that broad in their materials!

Mine feel more the old obsolete model mine is after turning 40. No real or immediate change in the forecast, and a major blow is an insurance settlement that may result in a bust.

What college mine take is now on hold during summer, zo a few projects are in store.

Like a gunman once said, "Wife, none. Kids none. Prospects, none..."

Old, and obsolete.

im really sorry to hear that -- sounds like an extremely difficult situation. im glad you're managing but i cannot imagine going through all of that let alone without much support. i hope it helped to at least vent some on a post. i know im just an internet stranger, but feel free to shoot me a message or comment if you ever need to talk to someone!!

also, it's funny that you say that because im a librarian & my life is trying to show people all the cool stuff libraries have to offer that you wouldn't think of. sounds like your local library has all kinds of cool shit. i am so happy the library is providing you a sense of solace and things to do all for free. there's not really many places anymore that do that...places you can just exist and take up space without being expected to shell out money.

What a coincidence! That's why I love them too. You're welcome there, you're an equal no matter who you are or how much money you have.

Definitely feeling burned out lately. Got a promotion at work, and all the training and extra responsibility has been intense. I need a vacation.
