Hello ! As you may notice, I'm getting to the queue a bit late tonight. I had to work today and I'm absolutely wiped, haha. I may not get to everything tonight, but I'll be able to do more on Friday :)
On a similar note...
I've had the opportunity come up at the clinic to possibly change my schedule. It would have me working Monday-Thursday (right now I work Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays). There's obviously some great benefits to this (three-day weekend every week?! Heck yeah!), but there's also a few downsides.
If I switch my shift, it would mean that something with the queue would need to change. It's very hard for me to come home from a 10-12 hour shift at the clinic and do a lot more work. One of the issues I had back in the day with my job here was not putting realistic boundaries on my time. It's definitely something I'm going to continue to avoid at all costs - I don't want to suffer a burnout.
With the switch shift, the queue would be done on Fridays and Sundays. I know this leaves a LOT of time between days, which is why on EITHER Tuesday or Wednesday (depending on how damn tired I am!), I would spend time going through to do just recolors. This does mean that some things may sit in the queue a few extra days longer than others; recolors are always easiest to do, so that would be the best use of my time on those longer days.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this! Is this something that you think seems fair and would work for all of you?
I want to be clear: responses here don't mean 100% that I either will or will not take this schedule change. There are a lot of things for me to factor into this, and this is just one piece of that puzzle. But I'm genuinely curious for your thoughts and input!
If you feel more comfortable reaching out to me one on one with your thoughts either in sMail or via Discord, feel free FOR THIS ONLY (I mean I am always 100% down to chat on Discord ANY time, but please don't message me there about say, your CW in the queue. That just makes me sad)
I'm totally fine with whatever days work for your schedule. Burnout is a real thing and yeah we as adults have to put boundaries on our time and if we don't then we suffer for it and things have to change anyways to not suffer so I'm all for doing whatever works best for you. I think that throwing some recolors in there to accept in between would help a lot too and be much easier for you than say new items. In the past I think there was even times where it was like 7-10 days between acceptances lol so 2 x a week whatever days those are seems more than fair. And congrats on getting a schedule where you can have a 3 day weekend (those are the BEST) my poor hubs has had like 1 day off a week and if he gets 2 days they are split which kind of sucks for us lol :) So I vote fine on Friday/Sunday for queue days and congrats again!

I don't make CWs, I only buy them, so it doesn't matter to me what day the queue is done. But as someone who works 4/10s and has three-day weekends, I can tell you it feels like a mini-vacation every week and it's amazing! The work week seems to fly by so much faster too. Any other considerations notwithstanding, I highly recommend switching to that schedule, especially if avoiding burnout is a priority.
Listen, you should absolutely be doing what works best for you and produces the least risk of burnout at either job! If you decide to switch schedules then I'll be excited for you and your three day weekends (I used to have them and boy do I miss them, they were so nice)!
I agree with the others above: whatever works best for you is good! Taking care of yourself is most important, so if you find that you need to do a schedule change to ensure that you're in a good place, totally go for it!
For me, just knowing on what days the queue is done is more than good enough. ^^ By knowing what the schedule is (no matter what the days are), I can plan accordingly...or I just submit whenever, lol, but I know when to expect approvals/denials to come in. X3
I would recommend changing the schedule to the one offered, having multiple free days in a row is very soothing and refreshing. When we know ahead what days for the queue to expect, we can plan accordingly. I don't think this would be a problem at all. Above all, you should decide what is best for your happiness and health! <3

Jessi, I’m all for whatever works with your life and doesn’t lead to more stress for you. ❤️
I think you should take care of yourself first. I think a three day weekend sound great, but is your choice. As far as the queue goes as long as I know what days it is going to be done, I am good with that.
You should definitely do whatever is best to prevent burnouts, my husband also has a three day weekend and it benefits everyone and gives more time with your significant other/family. :)
I mean honestly the reality is getting the queue done for new items even just once weekly is way better than it was for a while. And it’s honestly very reasonable.
There were times before where we waited 2+ weeks for the queue to be done, so honestly having a guaranteed weekly day for new submissions AND one for recolors? We’re already very spoiled.
If three day weekends benefit you IRL especially for mental health? Then you need to do what’s best for you. No one needs to suffer burnout.
I can’t see any reason this shouldn’t be able to change and still keep cws super active. And as releasers just knowing what days it is helps immensely, regardless if it’s one day a week or two.
Whatever is best for you is fine by me. As long as you get to queue once a week (life and health permitting) I can't imagine anyone objecting!
I agree with all above... Three day weekends sound awesome and if that works for you go for it!
It's your life, your job, your choice!
So whatever you want is the right choice.
Personally, a three day weekend seems great to me.

a three day weekend seems really awesome 💖 having a day just for recolours + a day for new items seems fine!
I am a sporadic releaser so whatever works best for you works best for me. Hope you take that new schedule. Sounds awesome.

Jessi, just do what you think is best for you.

Three day weekends sounds nice. I say go for it if you think its best for you!
On the topic of CWs. I just like knowing when the queue days are. As long as I know I'll be good.
